New International CHAPPIE Trailer Features Lots Of New Footage

Yahoo! have just debuted a brand new UK trailer for Neill Blomkamp's upcoming sci-fi flick, Chappie. X-Men's Hugh Jackman looks to be relishing the opportunity to play bad guys these days, and his mulleted Aussie antagonist seems like a real nasty piece of work.

After being kidnapped by two criminals during birth, Chappie becomes the adopted son in a strange and dysfunctional family. Chappie is preternaturally gifted, one of a kind, a prodigy. He also happens to be a robot.

Chappie stars Sharlto Copley, Dev Patel, Ninja and Yo-Landi Vi$$er, Jose Pablo Cantillo, with Sigourney Weaver and Hugh Jackman. The script was written by Neill Blomkamp & Terri Tatchell.

"After being kidnapped by two criminals during birth" and yet in the trailer we see Chappie's creator (Dev Patel) with Die Antwood as if they are friends/allies, so do Die Antwood kidnap him during birth, or are they just looking after him because something has happened to Dev?

I love Blomkamp but will he make another film not concerning sociology political ideologies with tech and robots? ?? I love that he's one of the few directors doing original ideas but I'd love to see him tackle and adaptation. He would make a great ghost in the shell film or another Sci fi anime like blue gender for example

How are the robot effects this much better than the ones in Avengers: Age of Ultron? Honestly, this movie must have like a third of its budget.

Blomkamp's effects work background (and the fact that he cares about it) is why the robots, technology, etc. steam-roller over the generic CGI that Hollywood thinks is 'sufficient'. I'm honestly shocked by what they think they can get away with - the Twilight films being a particular example of just how low you can set the bar for it. I know a lot of people slate Blomkamp for his story-writing but I can overlook them somewhat for the fact that he nails the visuals every time. The Chitauri in Avengers were another example of 'lets create an army of minimally rendered cannon-fodder aliens 'cos more is more, right?'. Hopefully Ultron and Co. will spend a bit more time in render-farm before being let out.

Chappie is said too darn much and the saviour of the world sounded very cliche. Also taking the Yolanda and Waddy from Die Antwoord to act in this seems very risky and fro the trailer they seem too oddball to be able to fit.

Love the SAn voice of Chappie though (big ups Sharlto Copley). And the nice little touch of a South African flag featuring on the robot design.
