Comic books are a medium, a business to bottom line things. However they are part of the entertainment industry. This past Comic Con in 2013 one of the biggest announcements ever was announced from one of the longest & biggest producers of film Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.

WB is also owns one of the biggest comic book labels of all time, DC Comics. The announcement of course is the anticipated follow up to Man of Steel the Superman/Batman movie. Batman & Superman are the arguably the two most iconic Superheroes of all time. These two Superheroes are beloved & known worldwide. That is why I myself truly believe WB is headed in the right direction with their DC Comic properties.

The Dark Knight Trilogy is not only the most successful CBM franchise of all time but it is one of the most successful movie franchises of all time period. The Dark Knight trilogy was a standalone Batman franchise however it has been a huge catapult for the DC Cinematic Universe. Many have been drawn to that particular franchise because of yes Batman but also it was taken a step further, it reached out to more than just the comic book community. However TDK trilogy has wrapped but with Man of Steel being a huge successful hit it has set the stage of a cinematic platform that many fans have longed for for so long.

Here are some reasons I think DC Comics is in a good position. First off, we are finally getting a crossover film in the DC Cinematic Universe. Yes this is Superman’s movie but it still great to see that The Caped Crusader part of this film. This will give us a chance to catchup with Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel as the character grows more into Superman & Clark Kent. Cavill presented a powerful performance in Man of Steel & I for one look very forward to see him evolve more in Superman.

Two, this is also the opportunity to witness the introduction of the new Batman Ben Affleck. I myself wondered who would take up the mantle after what I feel is a tough act to follow by Academy Award Winner Christian Bale but hey now we all know who is the new Bat. Affleck is also an Academy Award Winner a multiple winner at that may be the most controversial selection since say Michael Keaton? Hey many of us saw the way that turned out. The result a home run so let’s given Affleck the opportunity come screen time.

Three, some familiar faces such as the return of many of the cast of Man of Steel as well as new faces such as possibly Wonder Woman. I say possibly Wonder Woman because we don’t know if she will appear totally as Wonder Woman attire at first. Diana will be nearby though as Gal Gadot has the honor of playing the part of the Amazon Princess. Many people have mixed reactions to Gadot being chosen just like Affleck was for Batman. But I ask this “what about it?” These are actors and this is their profession. Christian Bale said is best “we play dress up.”

Some say Gadot to skinny well maybe now but in this business people have trainers to help them get into the top shape the role requires. Ask yourself these questions. Did I see Michael Keaton as Batman earlier in his career? Did I see Bale as Batman? Did I see Heath Ledger as the Joker? Did I see Hathaway as Catwoman? Did I see Jackman as Wolverine? Did I see Downy Jr. as Iron Man? Yes they can all act their but’s off but I honestly don’t think people saw these people in these roles & maybe even doubted them just as Affleck an Gadot have been.

Four, Let's view some of wildcards Jason Momoa is rumored of being in talks with WB, the role of Lex Luther if Lex is shows up & any other villain or villians. I personally think Momoa would make a good Martian Manhunter. He has the build & even a creepy stare. I think another character he would make great is Lobo. Momoa certainly has the look & the wise guy charm take a look at his villain role in Bullet to the Head opposite Sylvester Stallone.

A third idea of a character I could actually see Momoa playing is Hawkman. Although I doubt they would use Hawkman at least this early it would be great to see a take on the character.

The casting of Lex Luther is heavily anticipated by many. It is time for a new representation of Luther to be on the big screen. I for one wish to see a Lex very close to Clancy Brown's remarkable animation Luther. Think about other villians John Corben/Metallo, Bizarro, Brainic, the Parasite or even a Mongul to start a villain trail in the sequel oh the possibilities.

I do believe when it comes down to other characters such as Wonder Woman will have a small role in the film. However many people are concerned about the film being overcrowded but look back at a film such as Lord of the Rings The Two Towers. Yes I know different characters but many characters. I am not saying that just because it worked back then that it will work now. I am saying be open minded about the project.

The DC Universe is expanding & in a great way. With Superman/Batman film starting up it is good to know also of their television universe as well. Arrow is a hit show with fantastic action, tremendous story & wonderful characters. Other shows very possibly on the way such as The Flash (Barry Allen well done on Arrow), Gotham P.D., Hourman, John Constatine, Preacher, IZombie & possibly more it looks like these properties are being handled in a good way. Then Man of Steel sequel is highly anticipated & just think other things to follow.

These are the times fans have been waiting for & I myself I’m looking forward to see many of these properties presented to the public in the next two years. I furthermore look forward to seeing what may be further down the line after that but for now it is good to know The DC Universe is growing in nearly all mediums so let’s enjoy!

The only thing I can disagree with is Wonder Woman. Gadot is too skinny. She looks like a rail. You named a lot of other people such as Michael Keaton playing Batman and Ledger playing Joker, among others. The big difference is that none of them were playing a character that scantilly clad and showing so much skin. Its easy to cover up Michael Keaton's lack of muscle tone when half the movie he's wearing a full body rubber suit with built in muscles, and the other half he's wearing full business suits.

Gadot is just too skinny. People have said she'll be able to work out and put on muscle mass, and I really hope they are right. But some people's bodies just aren't built for it. Wonder Woman is a very toned woman. She's not body builder big, but you are definitely supposed to see her muscles. I just don't know that Gadot can pull the look off.

Otherwise, good article :)

@GliderMan He forgot 2 shows, the Avenger.

Anyway i know that this as been said a lot but i still have to say it. Gal Gadot is completely different from the people you mentioned. She has very little acting experience and has never starred in anything. Also, no amount of exercise in the world will alter her bone structure as much as it is necessary. There is no reason to have faith in her and i just don't see why cast an acctress so far off the character when there tons of other actresses that could play the role better.

Wouldn't it be really weird if they did a mo cap thing for Wonder Woman, ala Crudup as Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen. Now there was a hero that showed alot of skin!

I'm just sitting on the sidelines here. Honestly, no one knows what direction the DCU is headed in yet, so it's kind of amusing watching people attack and defend... pure speculation.
