ALIEN: Noah Hawley Shares An Update On His Long-Delayed Small Screen Reboot Of The Franchise

Before the Disney/Fox merger, Legion and Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley was working on a Doctor Doom movie and Alien TV series for Fox. Now, he's offered an update on where things stand with the latter...

Noah Hawley's work on the likes of Fargo and Legion is undeniably incredible, but he's had a rough few years. His Star Trek movie doesn't appear to be happening at Paramount Pictures, while his Doctor Doom movie and Alien TV show both appear to be casualties of the Disney/Fox merger.

In the last of the latter sci-fi franchise, it's been a while since we've heard anything about what's going on. It was originally being developed for FX, but never seemed to get very far, especially as Sir Ridley Scott remains attached to direct another instalment of the franchise (despite the mostly negative response to Alien: Covenant).

Talking to Deadline, Hawley shared an update on this Alien series. "I have conversations from time to time but I’m not committed," he admitted before being asked if the series had a hard conceit (to which he replied "nothing is at that stage").

"I know that there’s an effort to reshuffle a lot of things post-Disney takeover and it was a conversation that I had a couple years back," he continued. "And I have not in the last few weeks been having those conversations about it. But I know that like any studio that there’s a great desire to make the most of one’s library so I wouldn’t be surprised to see something like that."

Disney is definitely taking its time with the R-Rated franchises it inherited from Fox (Deadpool 3 is only just now happening), but we'll hopefully see something happen with Alien before too long.

Do you think the property would be a good fit for TV?
