GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS Spinoff TV Series Set Video Teases Scene With Kaiju Attacking From The Ocean

A new video taken on the set of Apple TV+'s untitled MonsterVerse series shows terrified extras running on the beach after an unknown kaiju emerges from the depths. Find out what happens next right here...

There's a lot of intrigue surrounding the untitled MonsterVerse series coming to Apple TV+, and we now have a new set video courtesy of 7News Brisbane (via SFFGazette.com). Filmed on Australia's Gold Coast in Queensland, it shows a local beach that's been transformed into Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

The location is evident from the Brazilian flags, police vehicles, and military on hand. Extras, meanwhile, can be seen enjoying a day by the beach before running from a kaiju that seemingly emerges from the nearby ocean.

Of course, no matter how many photos and videos we see from the set of this series, those monsters won't be revealed until much further down the line. Why? Well, they're obviously brought to life solely with visual effects, so expect to see a lot of actors and extras react to kaiju that aren't there!

Still, this is clearly going to be a globe-trotting series, and we're excited to see how it expands this MonsterVerse in the wake of Godzilla: King of the Monsters (and before that all-out war in Godzilla vs. Kong). This is a TV show, of course, and on the big screen, the next chapter in the franchise, believed to be Son of Kong, is heading our way on March 15, 2024.

The untitled project will take place in the aftermath of the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that levelled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, with the focus put on one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.

Legendary Television is producing this MonsterVerse TV series that was co-created by Chris Black (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye), with the former serving as showrunner. WandaVision's Matt Shakman will direct the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer.

Be sure to keep checking SFFGazette.com for the latest on this Godzilla: King of the Monsters spinoff.

This actually from the 5th film rather than the TV series but it's cool that they're both filming at the same time. More Godzilla and Kong for all of us.

Apple TV has been pretty solid so far so I'm optimistic about this one.

@ModHaterSLADE - there are so many show on thereI wanna watch, but Apple TV doesn't make it easy for someone without a creditcard to get a subscription.

I know that when they do, I'll have a lot to watch.

I have to say I’ve enjoyed each of the Monsterverse films so far. I mean, they’re all basically the exact same film to be fair but they’re innocent, and fun. Kong: Skull Island is the best though. What a cast they got together

I sincerely hope this series acts as a pre-cursor to show the development of Destoroyah due to the Oxygen Destroyer.

@MahN166A - Destroyah would be a useful inclusion in this series as it would take care of the question 'why don't they use the Oxygen Destroyer whenever giant monsters attack?'.

Because it can lead to the creation of new mutant monsters.

For some reason this got me hopeful for that Pacific Rim crossover again. Would love to see some of those Kaiju get mopped by Godzilla or Kong.

@TLion702 - I may be not as hopeful, but I definitely wanna see that too.

The ending of Uprising does set up Jaegers and their pilots showing up on Godzilla's world I think. If they can master inter-dimensional travel, I can see them track a Kajiu to Godzilla's Earth.

Doesn't really show us much, but it doesn't have to. Monsters going on a rampage is all I need anyway from this franchise, so I do look forward to both the movie and this show.
