Joe Manganiello In Talks To Join Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's RAMPAGE Video Game Movie

Joe Manganiello is in talks to join "The Rock" in New Line's film adaptation of the classic '80s arcade game, Rampage. What does this mean for his role as Deathstroke in Ben Affleck's Batman movie?

With Ben Affleck's Batman movie in trouble and potentially looking at a page one rewrite, Joe Manganiello is looking to secure another role in the interim. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Manganiello is entering final contract negotiations to co-star in Dwayne Johnson and director Brad Peyton's adaptation of '80s arcade game, Rampage.  THR describes the film as following:

"Like the video game, the film will feature three creatures - a monstrously transformed gorilla,
crocodile and wolf - who wreak havoc on North American cities and landmarks. Johnson is, naturally, an animal-loving hero who is the world’s only hope."

Also in talks to join the film is Marley Shelton, who is best known for the Anthony Hopkins thriller Solace.  Manganiello will reportedly play the leader of a private military group, while Shelton will play a scientist/astronaut.

In addition to The Rock, Naomie Harris is also starring in the film as a geneticist.

The film is currently slated for release on  April 20, 2018, meaning that cameras will likely begin rolling this Spring, the same time that Ben Affleck's Batman film was originally expected to begin shooting. We speculated last week that Manganiello's role as Deathstroke was up in the air following numerous reports of script issues and this latest casting news certainly supports that theory.
