LOST Actor Ken Leung Shares Details On The Spinoff That Never Was Featuring... Miles And Sawyer?

Although the ending proved to be highly divisive, Lost will go down as one of the most popular and successful TV shows of all time. While a return to that mysterious island is probably long off the table at this point, it's now come to light that a unlikely spinoff was discussed.

Actor Ken Leung, who played Miles Straume from season 4 on, revealed that a spinoff show focusing on Miles and Josh Holloway's James Ford, aka Sawyer, was considered at ABC.

"I know there was an idea being kicked around where Miles and Sawyer would have a True Detective-style spinoff, but that would be so much its own thing that it wouldn’t feel like continuing Lost," he said during an interview with The Independent when asked about a possible revival. "But on the face of it, sure. There’s nothing about Lost where it’s like, 'I never wanna do that again.' So yeah, maybe. I would love to go back to Hawaii. When I think of Lost, I don’t think of the show as much as I think of Hawaii. But I guess it depends on where they wanted to take it and who was coming back."

Sawyer and Miles became friendly when some of the islanders infiltrated the Dharma Initiative, and they'd later partner-up as LAPD detectives in season six's "flash-sideways" narrative. We assume this would have been the basis for the spinoff, but since those flash-sideways scenes were ultimately revealed to be playing out in a sort of purgatory, it seems like an odd premise!

The conclusion of Lost - when all of the main characters met in the afterlife and ascended to heaven together - was widely derided, and is still considered one of the most disappointing series finales of all time. Creators Damon Lindelof and J.J. Abrams and showrunner Carlton Cuse have often been asked about a possible sequel series, but don't seem to have much interest in revisiting the show.

What did you guys make of Lost overall? Would you be up for some kind of spinoff? Drop us a comment down below.

@RorMachine - you shouldn’t have to ask this if you’re in the camp that understood what the writers were doing with the finale.

@eddyxx - I understood what they were doing... scrambling to come up with an ending after years of making up the story as they went with no clearly defined conclusion in mind.

I didn't even dislike the final season, but the ultimate reveal was just plain lazy, and made zero sense given what we'd already seen play out over the course of the previous seasons.
