PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING Director Say A Crossover With GODZILLA And KING KONG Is Possible

Pacific Rim: Uprising director Steven S. DeKnight has revealed that talks have taken place in regards to a crossover between this franchise and the ones featuring iconic Kaijus Godzilla and King Kong...

Pacific Rim was met with a tepid response both critically and commercially but a sequel is still happening and that's set to be released next year. Former Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight will be at the helm of Pacific Rim: Uprising and the action is set to revolve around the son of Idris Elba's character from the first movie (played in this sequel by Star Wars: The Last Jedi actor John Boyega).

Something fans have been fantasising about seeing ever since Pacific Rim was released is the massive Jaegers going to war with the likes of Godzilla and King Kong. Well, it turns out talks have taken place!

Here's what Steven. S. DeKnight had to say about the possibility of a crossover taking place one day.

"I won’t say there’s an Easter Egg but there’s been a lot of discussion about that possibility [of crossing over]. Look I think it would be fantastic to have the Pacific Rim universe join Legendary’s Monster Universe, it seems like a natural step. And part of the big overall plan after the third movie we’ve talked about is that could happen, it’s always a possibility. It’s by far not a certainty; it’s merely theoretical at this point, but as a fan myself I would love to see that happen."

There's nothing to say this will ever happen, of course, but it would be an interesting mashup and one which would probably go down a storm at the box office. Chances are we'll just have to wait and see but DeKnight did add that Pacific Rim: Uprising drops some hints about the sequel setting up a third instalment so plans to expand this universe are in place. What do you guys think about these remarks?
