Paramount Has Tapped JESSICA JONES Director S. J. Clarkson To Helm The Next STAR TREK Movie

Paramount has found a director for the fourth Star Trek movie - and it's not Quentin Tarantino!

Although the Pulp Fiction filmmaker's script is still being developed, the studio is planning a more direct follow-up to Star Trek Beyond first, and it looks like that'll be helmed by British filmmaker S.J. Clarkson (Dexter, Jessica Jones, The Defenders).

As previously rumoured, Star Trek 4 will see the return of Avengers: Infinity War actor Chris Hemsworth as Jim Kirk's dad. Apparently, the story revolves around the iconic Captain of The Enterprise (Chris Pine) "running into his father in a time travel ploy."

Zachary Quinto will also reprise the role of Spock, but there's no work on the rest of the crew just yet.

The script for Star Trek 4 is being written by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, with J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber producing through Bad Robot. David Ellison and Dana Goldberg of Skydance Media will executive produce.

Very cool. Absolutely love this franchise since the first one, and I did not like Star Trek before.

And thank goodness no Tarantino.

If she can end the ridiculous Spock/Uhura romance then beam me aboard!

Cannot be more thrilled about this news. Clarkson's work resulted in some of the best episodes of Jessica Jones. I think she'll bring a more nuanced, character-driven presence to the rebooted franchise, which is something it sorely needs. Especially if we get the time travel scenario. That's a terrific way to showcase these characters' emotional depths. Plus, I'm just happy that the series isn't dead. I loved Beyond.

Last one was pretty good, but it seemed like it had to have lost money. It’s a shame... the reboot film series has an appealing cast but it’s very much an afterthought next to Star Wars and even Guardians of the Galaxy.

I don’t know which episodes of JJ she did, but if they were among the good ones then count me on board.

I always thought the Klingons should’ve been like 8ft tall in the remakes. They’re a warrior race so I think they should fit the intimidating aspect of it.

DONT USE YOUR YOUTUBE APP IF YOUVE EVER WATCHED MARVEL VIDEOS

I’ve only watched some Infinity War tv spots & SpiderMan PS4 footage & bootleg scene of major spoilers of Infinity War popped up on my home tab.

I’m so goddamn mad right now

Great they gave the job to a female Director, maybe she'll be less Bang! Boom! Bing! less dumb, The new timeline films haven't been Trek, they've been iffy. Her credits don't make great reading, Defenders-wow! Jessica Jones-eek! Dexter-yikes! If it bombs they'll have Tarantinos following to maybe repair the damage.

This is just an excuse to get a second hunky Chris in the franchise.

Jessica Jones has some great, otherwise unknown directors. Deborah Chow's pretty good, too.
