George Lucas Take Note: STAR WARS EPISODE II Reimagined So It Didn't Suck

Last year, Belated Media, produced "What If Star Wars Episode I Was Good," a video that proposed hypothetical improvements so that "Phantom Menace" would be watchable. That video went viral, garnering over a million hits. Now, they tackle, "Attack of the Clones."

Actually, now that Star Wars is owned by Disney and not George Lucas, I should make the headline, "J.J. Abrams Take Note," but it's sexier as is. So, in February of 2012, Belated Media, posted a video on their YouTube channel, which you can view by clicking here, that created quite a buzz on the internet. As it tackled the many issues that bogged down the most disappointing film ever created, "Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace." Of course, when you have a huge viral hit like they did, there has to be a sequel. Below, you can see their latest video, which altered the original story quite a bit.

For me, the alteration that I like the best, is having Episode II focus more on the friendship between Anakin and Obi-Wan. And not with exposition, this is something that needs to be shown to us, not told to us. It's one of the biggest flaws in the prequels. Alec Guinness' Obi-Wan Kenobi told us in the original film that he and Anakin were friends, but in the prequels we never see them as anything more than an irritated mentor and a whiny teenager begrudgingly in the company of each other.

ELEMENTS SCRAPED:
- Dex's Diner
- Kamino
- "Love scenes" between Anakin & Padme founded only on Anakin being persistent
- Returning to Tatooine
- Jango Fett (maybe mentioned to build out the world allowing for more impact when Boba is revealed in Empire)
- Basically all politics
- the Colosseum battle

ELEMENTS KEPT:
- Padme's life in danger
- Separatists
- The Clone Army
- A tracker leading to Geonosis
- Palpatine gaining more control
- Anakin meeting Owen
- Anakin losing an apendage
- Count Dooku as leader and "Fallen" Jedi
- Dooku telling Obi-Wan there is a Sith in the Senate
- Acklay
- Clone Troopers arrinving in the nick of time
- Yoda sensing darkness

ELEMENTS ADDED OR EMBELLISHED OR ALTERED:
- Naboo is now Alderaan (forgotten detail intended for Episode I)
- Anakin & Obi-Wan spend far more time together
- Owen's role increased
- Bail Organa's presence increased and relationship to Padme altered
- Maul is alive
- Dooku's redemption (isn't a Sith)

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones was directed by George Lucas. The screenplay was written by George Lucas and Jonathan Hales. The cast included: Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, Samuel L. JacksonChristopher Lee, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Frank Oz. With a budget of $115 million, the film pulled in $650 at the worldwide box office.
