A New Behind-The-Scenes Look At Katherine Waterson's Daniels As ALIEN: COVENANT Wraps Filming

Ridley Scott's sequel to the divisive Prometheus, Alien: Covenant, has wrapped, and the Alien Anthology Twitter account has shared a stylish new behind-the-scenes pic of the director alongside a grinning Katherine Waterson (Inherent Vice).

There seems to be little doubt that her character's look pays homage to Sigourney Weaver's Ripley, and rumor has it that Daniels may actually be the iconic officer's mother.

You can check out some more BTS images HERE and HERE.

“Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Demien Bichir and Danny McBride, and is set to hit theaters on August 4, 2017.

Damn, didn't know it was that far along. Looking forward to where this story goes from here. I liked Prometheus, but didn't love it.......felt like it didn't reach its potential imo, but excited nonetheless for this.

Why do they need to have Ripley's mother–or literally anyone related to her at all–in the movie? What's the point of interconnecting these movies in such an awkward fashion, when you could just as easily do so via the Aliens themselves.

I didn't think there was precedent for using Ripley's mom but apparently there is. I don't remember if this is mentioned in the first movie or the book but either way there was this idea that Ripley's mother had been lost to Space because she worked for "the company" and that Ripley only worked for them because that's where all the jobs were. She took the job in Alien to make enough money to set her up financially so she'd never have to leave again. So given that this use of her mother isn't as bad as I thought. Does it need to end being that her mother ALSO fought the Xenomorphs? No. But it's still not completely out of the blue.
