ALIEN: COVENANT Gets An Official Logo, Synopsis And Release Date

Fox has just announced that Ridley Scott's follow up to Prometheus will actually be titled Alien: Covenant, and we have a title treatment and synopsis to go along with a 2017 release date.

So, it seems Fox and Ridley Scott decided against going with the "Paradise Lost" subtitle, and instead called their follow up to Prometheus, Alien: Covenant. The studio issued a press release confirming the title, and also providing a synopsis which makes mention of Michael Fassbender's "artificial person" David, but not the other character that survived the first movie, Noomi Rapace's Elizabeth Shaw. Does this mean she's out?

Alien Covenant

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Alien: Covenant is set for an Ovtober 6, 2017 release.

Ah, cool, thanks. Definitely unfortunate

@DrDoom

Yeah, I feel like Fox has a habit of doing this sort of thing.... Vaughn brought back X-Men w/ First Class too, then they had to go and bring Singer back on, and keep him on....

Maybe it's for the better because even if Blomkamp made a good film, they probably wouldn't have brought him back for a sequel either

If I didn't know, when I see Alien: Covenant, I consider this as a sequel to the saga and not to Prometheus. I hope they will be clear when the movie will be released.

So, the Alien hype train starts up again, even though there hasn't been a decent Alien film since the 1980s.

Beautiful, just beautiful. Prometheus had a few bugs but the director's cut was a bit better than what we got in the theaters. Super glad that Risley is returning to this franchise. I still wonder how on earth he'll be able to do three more prequels but I guess he's setting up for the finale in Alien 5. I just hope that they ease in why the 1979 crew's computing and etc looked so out dated. I believe that within some of the documentary behind the first film they wanted to give the crew's ship a low class feel to it since the corporation that funded the exploration was a bit cheap on the crew's behalf. (Paraphrasing)

Just bring back/continue the horror elements and I'm all good to go.
