Still no sign of a full trailer, but FX has announced an official premiere date for Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth, will is set to debut on August 13 with a double episode (the first season runs for 8 in total).

We also have a new poster featuring a Xenomorph, some promo stills spotlighting the main characters, and an updated synopsis which reveals quite a bit of intriguing new information about the show.

We knew that Alien: Earth would take place before Ridley Scott's original film, but based on this logline, the show will be set just two years prior to the events of the first Alien. It's also come to light that Syndey Chandler's character, Wendy, is actually a prototype android.

“When the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.”

“In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.”

While speaking to Deadline on the red carpet of the Emmy Awards last year, Hawley teased a "chilling" new take on the Alien.

“There’s something about seeing a Xenomorph in the wilds of Earth with your own eyes. That is truly chilling to think of it moving here among us, and so I can’t tell you under what circumstances you’ll see that, but you’ll see it — and you’re going to lock your door that night. What was really fun for me was to really engage with the creature, bring some of my own thoughts to the design while not touching the silhouette, because that’s sacrosanct.”

“But some of the elements as we know, whatever the host is, informs what the final creature is,” he added. “I just wanted to play around a little bit to make it as scary as it should be.”

The show recently rounded out its supporting cast with the addition of Richa Moorjani, Karen Aldridge, Andy Yu, Enzo Cilenti, Max Rinehart, Amir Boutrous, Victoria Masoma, Tom Moya, Michael Smiley, Jamie Bisping and Tanapol Chuksrida.

The series' expansive international cast includes Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El.

really excited for this show, mainly to see the xeno's cause all hell on earth. interesting there are cyborgs, synths and hybrids... guess thats new as im used to only the synths like bishop. Anyways, i guess we can throw continuity out the window with the alien franchise between this and AvP/AvPr but i think this show will be pretty badass

@MotherGooseUPus - To be fair, this only takes place 2 years before the first Alien movie. And there was a synth in that too.

AvP and AvPr never were canon to the other movies as far as I understand. But in one of the earlier looks at this show you could clearly hear what sounds like a Predator clicking sound.

And other people are saying there could be some xenomorphs in Predator" Badlands.

I'm not sure how I feel about any of that. I would love to see a good AvP movie but the two we've gotten have been pretty bad.

If Alien: Earth and Predator Badlands are gearing us up for a new AvP movie I think I could be down with that.

Honestly, the description of Wendy reminds me of David from Prometheus and Covenant - could Scott be using this show to lead-in to the sequel to Alien: Covenant?

@asherman93 - Honestly, while I hated Alien Covenanet, I loved Prometheus. I'm going to be forever mad that we never got the 3rd movie in that series.

I think the Alien, especially is recent films hasn't had a personalty since the 90's, it's about time they give the Alien an emotional childish outburst when the human's he's trying to impregnate disagree with him.

@HashTagSwagg - Damn Zack I can’t believe you’re actually on this site that’s wild.

I was a big fan of 300.

Shame your Netflix movies didn’t work out so well though.

I'm gonna give this a shot.

Alien & Aliens are 2 of my favorite all time movies. I hate all the junk they have become in the last 40 years.

Five corporations seems like a play on the Big Five. Wonder which one is secretly Disney.

So there's Synthetics, Cyborgs and Hybrids. Where are the replicants tho?
