In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet's crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium - but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens' luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission - one that pits him against Elysium's Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces - but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.

ELYSIUM written and directed by Neill Blomkamp ("District 9"). The film stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, Alice Braga and Carly Pope. It opens in theaters August 9th, 2013.

This will be a fun movie. I see it says it has not been rated yet so I hope that does not mean it will become PG-13 instead of R.

We get enough homophobic remarks in the comments. Do we really need them on the front page?

@fettastic - Exactly, makes no sense to me. Streisand being one of the most talented and successful artist in the history of American performers only means he grew up watching South Park and thought she was something to be ridiculed.

Kids today, wouldn't know talent if it came already spelt in neon capitals.

I don't want Blomkamp for any CBM; his originality is too precious for Hollywood today. Although, of course, you won't hear me complaining if he does, but I'd rather him sticking with his stuffs, as for now.

And if anything can top District 9, that thing might just be Elysium. This will be the spotlight of the year.

@Downboy. Nah, they put up homophobic jokes on the front page all the time. Remember the Green Lantern incident last year. Yeah...

Where they posted the Alan Scott Green Lantern Picture on the front page with him photoshopped in front of a rainbow with a joke about his weakness being wood. It was all in terrible taste. Also: Just so people know... Journalism and news is about reporting facts, not your shitty jokes and opinions. Save that for editorial.

Ceejay thinks Streisand is a genius.

Now it all makes sense.

Blomkamp should've directed Akira if it wasn't shelved or had that dumb neo-manhattan idea. District 9 was really something else, I loved it.

Ha, I've got on nailbiter's case for making snarky editorial comments in his articles. Looks like he moved up to making them in his headlines. Totally did not get the reference, though, so this one just came off as weird.

How is calling someone streisand homophobic? I think that joke means someones a diva does it not? At any rate still a weird way to title a link. Movie looks awesome
