AQUAMAN Star Patrick Wilson Joins The Cast Of Roland Emmerich's Sci-Fi Thriller MOONFALL

Roland Emmerich's upcoming sci-fi disaster flick Moonfall has added Patrick Wilson (Aquaman, The Conjuring) to its cast. The actor joins the already-on-board Josh Gad (Frozen) and Halle Berry (X-Men).

Following the recent news that both Josh Gad and Halle Berry have signed on to star in Roland Emmerich's Moonfall, THR reports that Aquaman and Watchmen actor Patrick Wilson has also joined the project along with Charlie Plummer (Boardwalk Empire).

The plot of the movie deals with the aftermath of the moon being knocked from its orbit by a mysterious force and set on a collision course with Earth. A team is then assembled and sent on a perilous mission to land on the lunar surface and save the planet.

Wilson will play a disgraced former NASA astronaut whose last mission, which ended in tragedy, holds a clue about the impending catastrophe. Plummer will play his teenage son. Berry is playing an astronaut-turned-NASA administrator who is a former colleague of Wilson's character, while Gad will portray is the eccentric genius who deduces that the moon has fallen out of its orbit.

If you're thinking this sounds very similar to Michael Bay's 1998 actioner Armageddon... you're right.

Emmerich co-wrote the script with Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen, and will also produce under his Centropolis banner. Lionsgate is eyeing a fall production start, but that's obviously subject to change.

How the [frick] does Roland Emmerich get work? Even [frick]ing Michael Bay has been slowed down.

On the positive note, I like Patrick Wilson. I think his Ocean Master is one of the better villains in the DCEU, and I hope he returns in A2

@DannRamm113 - I kind of hope they give Yahya the spotlight for A2. He's on the rise, and I feel like after his Aaron Sorkin film he's gonna be a big deal

@tmp3 @DannRamm113 - I can't wait for both Aquaman 2 and Shazam! 2. Both have a ton of potential and wishful thinking for their sequels in terms of story, plots, and characters (whether to pull directly more from the comics or just what was established in their first flicks alone).

More Patrick Wilson will always be a good thing to me. He has become one of my new favorite lead/character actors from the last decade or so.

It's weird, I always think I'm going to like some 'huge catastrophe' movie, and somehow they always end up making it the backdrop for some weak family drama and I end up not watching or barely finishing it.

Like, I loved and still love the teaser for 2012, where the water comes over the mountains and washes away the buddhist monastery. That image still genuinely scares me. I watched maybe half of the actual movie before it annoyed me so much I had to turn it off.
