Avatar, is a 3-D science fiction epic film written and directed by James Cameron himself. The feature film is Lightstorm Entertainment's latest project, and focuses on an epic conflict on a far-away world called Pandora, where humans and the native species of Pandora, the Na'vi, engage in a war over the planet's resources and existence.

Opening worldwide on December 18, released by 20th Century Fox in 2D and 3D formats, along with an IMAX 3D release in selected theaters.

LEEE777 - Counting the days, not been this excited for a film since "Watchmen," this looks so good it's hard to believe it's nearly here.

Remember, this is not just a movie, it's a whole other Universe.

Fartman, the whole non comic book related argument is a dead horse. If it appeals to the general group that frequent this site then it will be posted.

Cameron has only directed one movie I absolutely loath and that's "Titanic" it was like watching "Pearl Harbor." This looks like it'll be cool, but I have a suspicion it's not going to be the greatest thing that will happen to how we make movies. Though I'd like to check this out, personally I'm more looking forward to "Iron Man II."

Yeah, Dogs@, Tyler@, 'cept this time
Pocahontas within a video game within
a bad animated cartoon! Somehow I don't
see it as the next wave in movie-making!

A lot of the animation looks clunky
and I really don't see what everybody
sees in Worthington as a leading man!
He's not much of a thespian!

Cartoons will never replace real actors with
at least some kind of prosthetics to look like
monsters and aliens, along with some CGI.

All CGI animation is too hokey for my tastes to
ever totally replace actual human actors!@

That's what make characters like Hulk so hard to bring to life on the big screen.

I'm coming around now guys.

I mean, how can someone NOT be excited for such an unoriginal, predictable, cartoonish-looking film!? How, I ask, how?!
DogsOfWar
DogsOfWar - 12/13/2009, 9:12 AM
C'mon-it has to have a good story & good acting to go with awesome visuals! That is one of the main reasons Phantom Menace got passed on so much.

If this movie is the sh1t, then more power to it. But let's wait to see it before we crown it the NEXT movie.

I plan to see Avatar, it does look really good. I'm just dissapointed that the plot is so unoriginal. As far as break through CGI, who here didn't think special effects would keep getting better and better? Another 10 years and we really might not be able to tell the difference just by looking.
