It has been reported that the man behind Back to the Future, Contact, Forrest Gump, Flight, and many more films is in advanced negotiations with Warner Bros. to direct their new astronaut thriller - Ares.

Ares is a project that was recently set up over at WB, and sources close to Deadline are confirming that Zemeckis is in talks to head up the sci-fi thriller. Its being said that the director will indeed work off of the existing script that was previously penned by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, co-writer of Disney and Marvel's Captain Marvel.

The movie's plot is centered around an astronaut that survives despite his space capsule landing in an African desert, who goes on to suspect a conspiracy behind his mission which hides secrets with world-changing ramifications. Zemeckis is also to produce, alongside his partners at ImageMovers, Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke.
