Avengers: Endgame may be at the top of everyone's most anticipated blockbuster of the year list, but Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters seems to be giving the superhero epic a run for its money after a series of of very impressive trailers and promos.

Now, a new international poster for the upcoming sequel has found its way online, and it gives us a stunning new look at Big G locked in combat with the Titan we recently discovered would be challenging him for the position of Alpha-Monster, King Ghidorah.

Check out the one-sheet below along with some recently released TV spots, and let us know if you're looking forward to Godzilla: King of the Monsters in the usual place.

Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Starring Zhang Ziyi, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance and Aisha Hinds, Godzilla: King of the Monsters stomps into theaters May 31, 2019.

Having Godzilla fight King Kong after fighting Ghidora seems anti-climactic.

@Forthas - I understand why folks would think that because I thought the same thing at first. But then I thought wow That’s how spoiled I am from all the awesome movies we’ve had over the last 10 years that Godzilla vs King Kong is like meh.

@Forthas - To long time Godzilla fans, yeah, I can see that. But to most american audiences, where Kong has consistently been the bigger cinematic draw, it's definitely the bigger of the two smackdowns since they are both cultural staples.

@NicolausCopernicus - it might be played out in the "dumb hulk" vs "brainy hulk" manner... whereby even though there are more of these monsters... they are in fact dumb and not the greatest fighters... whereas Kong could be supremely intelligent and a hands down better fighter due to not being asleep for all these past years.

@NicolausCopernicus - I just hope they don"t make it as though King Kong is conveniently impervious to atomic breath...or has some hidden super ability that will make it a fair fight. I just might roll my eyes and walk out of the theater.

@NicolausCopernicus - I saw a theory where Godzilla and King Kong will ultimately team up against ALL the other kaiju that are appearing around the world. The two icons taking on a horde of other monsters!

I've been very blah on this movie for a long time, but that last trailer actually moved the needle for me quite a bit. I think I can predict where the plot is going, but if it has the right proportion of kaiju action, then I might really dig this one. (A lot more than the first one, at least.)
