The fact Pacific Rim is getting a sequel is still surprising, especially given how poorly it performed at the box office. However, a strong showing from overseas (specifically China) has led to Legendary feeling confident enough to give a follow-up the green light, hence why Pacific Rim Uprising is currently set to blast into theaters on February 23rd, 2018 with a cast led by Star Wars: The Last Jedi's John Boyega.
This is actually more of a viral video than trailer but still does a great job of teasing what's to come as we get an awesome first look at the Jaegers which will head into battle against the monstrous Kaiju.
Pacific Rim Uprising also stars Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian, Wesley Wong, Lily Ji, Lan Yingying, Qian Yongchen, Zhang Jin, and newcomers Cailee Spaeny and Chen Zitong. Very little is known about the plot but Boyega is playing Jake Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba's character from the original film.
