Join the Jaeger Uprising With The First PACIFIC RIM UPRISING Recruitment Video

Steven S. DeKnight's Pacific Rim Uprising is eight months away and Legendary has released a new recruitment video which features John Boyega (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and an important message!

The fact Pacific Rim is getting a sequel is still surprising, especially given how poorly it performed at the box office. However, a strong showing from overseas (specifically China) has led to Legendary feeling confident enough to give a follow-up the green light, hence why Pacific Rim Uprising is currently set to blast into theaters on February 23rd, 2018 with a cast led by Star Wars: The Last Jedi's John Boyega.

This is actually more of a viral video than
trailer but still does a great job of teasing what's to come as we get an awesome first look at the Jaegers which will head into battle against the monstrous Kaiju.

Pacific Rim Uprising also stars Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian, Wesley Wong, Lily Ji, Lan Yingying, Qian Yongchen, Zhang Jin, and newcomers Cailee Spaeny and Chen Zitong. Very little is known about the plot but Boyega is playing Jake Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba's character from the original film.

I'm not really feeling the need to join the uprising. But maybe with time they'll find a reason for me to join, but today I'm good.

of course I'll join the Jaeger Uprising, how do you say "no" to a job that consists of punching giant monsters aboard a giant robot?
unless you're that p*ssy from Evangelion.

They even created a timeline.

AUGUST 10TH, 2013 - THE ATTACK THAT CHANGED THE WORLD

Humanity awakes to a new evolution as Trespasser, the first known Kaiju, makes landfall in San Francisco. After a 6-day assault the Kaiju Wars had begun, and we too would have to evolve to survive the monsters at our door.

SEPTEMBER 6TH, 2014 – A NEW DAWN FOR HUMANITY

We stand tall. 21 ‘warrior states’ of the Pacific Rim form an international coalition: the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, a global force watching the oceans for transdimensional attack.

SEPTEMBER 15TH, 2014 - TO FIGHT MONSTERS, WE BECAME MONSTERS

As all existing defensive arsenals fail, we need new thinking and new thinkers. The first prototype mech goes into active development, and the Jaeger program is born.

APRIL 23, 2015 - BRAWLER YUKON MAKES HISTORY

After a year of unsuccessful tests, Brawler Yukon destroys the Kaiju codenamed Karloff in Vancouver. The first successful Jaeger kill of a Kaiju in the field, it is a historic moment that ushers in a defense revolution around the world.

2021-2025 - HUMAN DOWNFALL

In 2021, we learned that each new Kaiju had learned and adapted from its slain predecessors, attacking with deadlier force than ever before. Many brave Jaeger pilots fall as the exponential threat of the Breach continues to rise.

JANUARY 12TH, 2025 - REMEMBER PENTECOST

- As the fleet is decimated and civilians run for their lives, PPDC Marshal Stacker Pentecost recruits ‘the Resistance’: a hail mary team ready to mount one last stand against the Kaiju. Powered by human courage, the last Jaegers standing succeed in destroying the breach, thanks to the brave sacrifice of Marshal Pentecost himself.

2035 - THE JAEGER UPRISING

It’s been ten years since The Battle of the Breach and the oceans are still, but restless. Vindicated by the victory at the Breach, the Jaeger program has evolved into the most powerful global defense force in human history. The PPDC now calls upon the best and brightest to rise up and become the next generation of heroes. When the Kaiju threat returns, we will be ready.

I still don't get the Pacific Rim hate on a site that worships men in colorful tights punching bad guys, but whatever.
