The first teaser trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising is expected to debut at NYCC over the weekend, but ahead of that, EW has debuted the first official stills from the upcoming sequel.

The images feature some of the human characters such as Jake Pentecost (John Boyega) and Lambert (Scott Eastwood), as well as the new Jaegers they'll be piloting into battle: Gipsy Avenger, Saber Athena, Guardian Bravo and Bracer Phoenix.

Boyega also reveals a little more about Jake, who is the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Pentecost from Guillermo del Toro's original:

“Jake is the prodigal son. He is a young guy who was on the cusp of greatness in his early days when he was training to be a Jaeger pilot, but he always had a troubled relationship with Stacker. I’m the son he didn’t really talk about in the first film … the product of Stacker’s first love.”

Check out the images below, and find out more about Jake and the Jaegers HERE.

Pacific Rim: Uprising also stars Jing Tian, Cailee Spaeny, Rinko Kikuchi, Burn Gorman, Adria Arjona, and Charlie Day, and is set to hit theaters on March 23, 2018.

I’m rooting for John Boyega... I’m glad he’s getting work in every genre almost he’s not staying in the same box. He has a haircut, he doesn’t sweat like crazy, and he seems to be able to fight. Wishing him nothing but the best.

@Fanmar16 - No because Del Toro knows how to actually shoot an action scene. Bay on the other hand keeps wooshing the camera all over the damn place and making excited cuts to tell what the [frick] is going on. In Pacific Rim you could tell who was who and who was doing what.
