The following Pacific Rim Uprising: Tokyo Comic-Con 2017 Reel debuted at Tokyo Comic-Con yesterday, and it contains quite a bit of new footage from the upcoming sequel, as well as interviews with the cast and director Steven S. DeKnight.

In amongst some new shots of giant monster action, we get our first look at the returning Rinko Kikuch as Mako, along with an intriguing glimpse of two Jaegers clashing in battle.

Pacific Rim: Uprising also stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian, Cailee Spaeny, Burn Gorman, Adria Arjona, and Charlie Day, and is set to hit theaters on March 23, 2018. Check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think.

Quality wise the CGI looks weaker than the first, the characters seem blander and less interesting and the idea of Jaeger fighting Jaeger is pointless when you've shown a shot of them all teaming up later in the movie.

Also, whoever thought it was a wise idea to have a non-English speaking actress in the Tokyo Comic Con reel is just stupid - you subtitled everyone else yet you dont bother to put a subtitle everyone speaking English - but you don't subtitle so those who only understand English know what she is saying? That's just dumb.

Now I know how blind DC apologists feel. I fell on the other side of the fence with the first movie, I just enjoyed the hell out of it at the cinema, what can I say?
