While many people are awaiting word on Fargo showrunner's solo Doctor Doom film for FOX, Noah Hawley will first make his feature directorial debut with an original science-fiction film called Pale Blue Dot which will see him reteam with his Legion star Dan Stevens.

Stevens joins a cast consisting of Annihilation's Natalie Portman, Mad Men's Jon Hamm and Zazie Beetz, who we will next see on-screen as Domino in the upcoming Deadpool 2. Taking its title from a Carl Sagan quote, Pale Blue Dot follows a successful astronaut (Portman) who, after coming back home from a mission in space, starts to unravel when confronted by her seemingly perfect American-dream life.

The film explores the theory that astronauts who spend long periods of time in space begin to lose their sense of reality when they return to earth and is inspired by a true story. Stevens will reportedly play Portman's husband who she cheats on with Jon Hamm as her life spirals out of control. The film is written by Brian C Brown and Elliott DiGuiseppit with revisions by John-Henry Butterworth and Hawley himself.

Pale Blue Dot is currently in pre-production with no set release date.

i really trust Noah Hawley. Legion and Fargo are great, they're both unique in different ways. Cast looks good too, so i'll be looking for this. Btw i hope the rumored dr doom movie happens and it'll be set in the MCU.

Same man.
Cause, real talk, Shadow King on Legion?

Is without a doubt the BEST comicbook villain on a tv show for me.
If this dude gets his hands on Dr.Doom, there's no telling what he could do.
Hopefully it'll be set in the MCU so it can have a future.

Love this. Great sci-fi concept and a cracking cast.

I'm up for anything Noah Hawley has to offer right now. If he can pull in some of that Legion surrealism and mix in a little of that Fargo style, I think we could ave something pretty special.

I'm all in to watch anything Hawley touches, masterpiece movie or tampon commercial.

Synopsis from Fox Searchlight sounds pretty dope:

"The film tells the story of a female astronaut who, upon returning to Earth from a life-changing mission in space, begins to slowly unravel and lose touch with reality. Her psychological decline culminates in a fevered cross-country trip with violent intentions in this complex, thrilling and darkly comedic character study."

I'm in.
