The Twilight Zone is one of the most well-known television shows in history. Exploring countless outrageous possibilities, Rod Serling set the tone for a lot of science fiction-based storytelling for years to come.

Even acclaimed horror director Jordan Peele, who has successfully created projects like Get Out, Us, Hunters, and Lovecraft Country, is still so enamored by the series that he has rebooted it himself. Two seasons in, it has helped to continue the legacy of Serling's brilliant storytelling. Yet, other filmmakers still look to the original when it comes to inspiration for sci-fi projects.

Shahin Sean Solimon, best known for playing the titular character in Sinbad: The Fifth Voyage, has brought his new sci-fi project, Nebulous Dark, to life behind the camera and on-screen. In a statement, the actor, writer, producer, and director made it clear how big of an effect Serling's storytelling had on his vision. He also mentioned shows such as Outer Limits as laying the groundwork for the film.

“It’s a highly stylized and organic film, lending itself to classic genre movies. I love Sci-Fi and was always amazed by what those classic shows would achieve. In fact, I would find myself looking forward to watching The Twilight Zone or the Outer Limits TV shows and intrigued by the genius of Rod Serling and some of the other writer’s scripts. The twists and the mind-bending. I loved the storytelling, substance, and characters in classic Sci-Fi TV which would drive the plot in a creative and supernatural setting. I think Nebulous Dark will resonate with the fans. It was fun to make and a great stretch of the imagination for me and the team”. - Shahin Sean Solimon

The team behind Nebulous Dark has asked us to share an exclusive clip for sci-fi enthusiasts to give them a taste of the aliens, robots, zombies, and other aspects that surround this movie. Check it out below.

@noahthegrand - thats a good catch. How do you notice stuff like that

@bkmeijer - I’ve noticed a lot of lower budget movies use this place. The masks are higher quality and far more detailed than a normal Halloween mask but faster and less expensive than hiring a Hollywood costume and makeup guy. (Not as good as Hollywood costumes, but a middle ground between a Halloween costume and a Hollywood movie quality costume) so it’s something lower budget filmmakers who don’t know any special effects people seem to use as an easy solution. (Still expensive though, it’s like 600 dollars a mask)

I actually wanted to make a movie about two years back but it never got off the ground past the writing stage and that’s how I found the website

@noahthegrand - thats pretty interesting. Seems like a good middle ground indeed.

Now I only had a brief glimpse at the website, but I do wonder what type of movie you were going for that warranted such props.

The Twilight Zone was a masterpiece, I just rewatched it recently and it's as good as ever. Then I tried The Outer Limits and I'm still struggling to reach Season 2.

Just like with this plot synopsis, I can't help but feel a certain untimely uneasiness when reading it's about a pandemic.
