New Doctor Who Logo to be Unveiled

And you lucky Brits get to see it first!

As I was browsing the official BBC Doctor Who site I came across this little tid bit that I thought some of you might be interested in. According to the BBC the iconic logo for Doctor is, much like the Doctor himself, up for a new regeneration. As the below video illustrates that the logo seen during the main title sequence has changed drastically over the years from simply some white text that read Doctor Who to the highly streamlined logo that it is today.

The official site had its own video on the morphing of the logo but as I live in Boston Ma. it was unavailable for me to see, but our british friends can no doubt see it perfectly well.

As we've seen in previous releases on the next season of Doctor Who it seems the design team is going for a more classic look to the show. From Matt's wardrobe, to the reinstatement of the old ambulance sticker on the Tardis door it is apparent that we are seeing a Renaissance of sorts and with that in mind it seems to me that they might be changing the logo to something more reminiscent of the older series logos like the diamond shape and bubble letters, but that is only conjecture at this point.

So to all our british friends please fill us in on the news as you hear it, I'm sure you'll get it first.

This just in the new logo has landed!

Personally I really like how the shape of the TARDIS was used in the lettering. It's a huge improvement over the old logo and I think it will be remembered as a classic in the future.

The fourth doctor is pretty great, I love his scarf. However I really love the 10th, the story telling was just amazing.

Paul McGann was good, I especially liked him in all those 90's radio dramas.

And I think the 11th doctor looks to be decent too.

LEEE - it's called 'regeneration'. It's a clever way to perpetuate the series every time the main actor (in this case David Tennant) wants to move on in real life. Apparently David didn't want to be type-cast (aka Tom Baker) and decided to get out while the going's good.

thwhtknight - I'm warming up to it. As for Matt Smith, I'm holding my breath that he can do a good job (he's got HUGE shoes to fill!). I was pulling for James Nesbitt (anyone ever seen 'Jekyll' before?). Don't know about the 'librarian/college professor' look, though - the bow-tie (and his HAIR) kinda' freak me out. Still, Stehpen Moffat knows what he's doing (I hope)...

Yeah, I loved Moffat's episodes so I'm really pumped to see what he can do when he has full artistic control now. I was a little surprised by Smith at first, he's just so young and I was kind of hoping to get an older doctor again to change things up. However the more I hear him talk about how much he likes the role the more he grows on me. I can't wait to see the next season, and from what I heard some of the episodes might air over here in the states first because of the soccer, excuse me, football season. It's going to be great.

I LOVE DOCTOR WHOOOOOO!!!! I can't watch any movie without thinking: "What would the Doctor do to escape this situation?" He could have made a machine to deactivate ALL the Decepticons, He could kick Nero's butt, find a cure for the people in Zombieland, he would be a step ahead of the Joker's plan, single-haNdedly destroy Cobra's headquartes, point and laugh at Lex Luthor...
AWESOME!
