Next Stop: The Big Screen - Twilight Zone The New Movie

It's a dimension not of sight, but of mind, and it's existed on television, in comics, novels, on the big screen, and in several returns to television. Now Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone is journeying back to the big screen.

According to Variety, Leonardo DiCaprio's production company, Appian Way, and Warner Bros. are moving forward with a movie version of TZ. Writer Rand Ravich (who has directed the forthcoming The Astronaut's Wife and is creator NBC's recently-canceled Life) is penning the screenplay. No word yet on whether or not the film will be a remake of an episode of the classic series or an original tale.

I wouldn't mind something about how the show got started, or a completely original tale would be good. Perhaps a journey through the Twilight Zone, into several diverse scenarios.

The original shows were great! They are still worthy of watching even today. I only hope for a movie that would require such good writing, they would have to produce good writers. Such as don't seem to exist anymore.

I would like to see an original story, not a remake of a classic tale. I hope for the best with this movie.

Man i hate the TWILIGHT ZONE! So this is a comic book then?? Didn't know that? Still hate the friggin' thing, why waste Millions making this when they can make something decent? WARNER BROS have soooo much DC stuff that needs the big screen treatment from BOOKS OF MAGIC to SWAMP THING to even maybe a DR FATE or even a amazing JSA movie, why make this crap? I hate HOLLYWOOD sometimes, they got no idea or ballz lol. : D

Personally, I'd prefer an original story IF they can actually come up with something that can match what they did on the TV series, and successfully expand it to at least 90 minutes. Tough to do. It's why the 60 minute episodes of TZ oftentimes lacked the punch of the half-hour version. Oh, and Leee, I only included TZ here because there have been a number of comics inspired by the show published through the years.

Ohh cool, didn't know they done some comics ED! My bad i missed the very top bit of ya article, its morning lol. ; )

If they do this movie, they should do the SIN CITY route and do three or four stories that sorta connect to each other or something like that!

Yeah an a SWAMP THING cameo! ; D

TEA @ !!! Yeah a SWAMP THING reboot would be fantastic! Im not much into reboots, well remakes really but SWAMP THING needs rebooting and with the CGI and effects today it would be mind blowing!

There are still plenty of good stories to be told in the style of the original series, and I've got no problem with seeing some of those in a movie if they're up to the standards of the original series. Edgross correctly points out that the 60 minute episodes did suffer from padding at times (a natural side-effect of taking writers used to a half-hour format and asking them to double it). The solution for this movie is to do several shorter stories, as the previous Twilight Zone movie did (a movie I really enjoyed, btw). I'd like to see a mix of some new stories with some classics, if possible. Give us the best of both worlds.

Should they want to remake some classic episodes, there are plenty to choose from. There are so many I enjoyed, it would be hard to pick just four or five. The main thing is not to just redo the ones from the previous movie.

If they make this, it better not suck like the last film... I have yet to see anyone top Rod Serling in the making of this fanchise... The main problem with the last movie was that they thought twilightzone was about fear, which it isn't at all... Its about irony and stuff like that...
Sofar the best re-creation of one of the originals was when one of the characters made a cameo in the Naked Gun 2, randomly yelling "Its a Cookbook!!!"

So, yeah I'd like to see a new one, but only if they stay true to the show and not screw anything up... But i'd want them to stay original and make some of their own and include 1 or 2 of the memorable ones

I have watch a lot of the TZ but to tell the truth i would only recognize some of he most popular stories as remakes. So go ahead and make it like the last movie reamke some of the old stories and mix in one or two new ones. Most people of this generation wont have a clue.
