Now that it's pretty clear Disney's 1952 is not in fact a code-name for Star Wars Episode VII, they studio have sent out a press release confirming the star, the release date, and announcing a title change..

The Walt Disney Studios has announced that its live-action release previously known as 1952 will be titled Tomorrowland. The film will be released domestically on December 19, 2014. George Clooney (The Descendants) is set to star. Tomorrowland is written by Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird from a concept by Lindelof and Jeff Jensen. Lindelof (Star Trek, Lost, Prometheus) will produce and Bird (The Incredibles, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) will produce and direct.

Plot details remain under wraps, but the last rumored description stated the project was a "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"-esque story following a man who makes contact with aliens on Earth."

Bird should have been hired for Star Wars VII. At any rate, I've been looking forward to this project for sometime now. Glad to see it's finally starting to take shape.

Oh God...I smiled until I read that it involves Lindelof. I can only hope Brad Bird's ability to tell a clear story will totally offset Lindelof's suck.

yeah, I like George but damn this reminds me of Close Encounters or Super 8 except it will probably have that 1950's/ early 60'spulp magazine vibe to it. I don't know about this one.

And Disney continues to rule the film universe. Funny how their live action films have really given their feature animation department a run for their money the last few years.
