As the 23rd James Bond film Skyfall continues its monster box office run in theatres, writers of the film, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, are moving on to a new project - Barbarella. The upcoming television series from Gaumont International Television will feature a character from the science fiction comic book created by Jean-Claude Forest in 1962. Also, Drive helmer Nicolas Winding Refn will direct the series, and he will also be executive producer along Martha De Laurentiis. In 1968, Jane Fonda portrayed the character in the Roger Vadim-directed big screen adaptation.

I hope this is for pay cable where they can actually do this kind of thing without toning it down.

we're in an awesome era of television. i look forward to upcoming series more than i do films most of the time.

ive been trying to figure out when/where/which show kinda made it 'ok' for big actors/directors to step onto the small screen regularly - by that i mean more than just cameos, but rather full time gigs.

but im drawing a blank. you guys know? i think it'd be interesting to trace that down.

Purvis and Wade have left the Bond series, but John Logan, who co-wrote Skyfall, is the sole writer on Bond 24 AND 25, having pitched a two-film arc storyline.
