THE WALKING DEAD's Sonequa Martin-Green Will Lead The Cast Of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY
After a long search, CBS All Access has finally found the actress that'll play the main character in their new Star Trek: Discovery TV series, and it's none other than Sasha, AKA Sonequa Martin-Green...
According to EW, The Walking Dead's Sonequa Martin-Green (The Good Wife, Once Upon a Time) has been cast in the lead role in CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery. Though her character's name is not revealed, she will be breaking tradition and not playing a captain, but a lieutenant commander.
31-year-old Martin-Green, who will be the first African-American woman to lead the cast of a Star Trek ensemble, is still expected to appear as a series regular on The Walking Dead.
As previously reported, the rest of the crew will be played by Doug Jones (Lt. Saru), Anthony Rapp (Lt. Stamets), Michelle Yeoh (Starfleet Captain Georgiou), and Shazad Latif as a Klingon officer named Kol.
Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere in May of next year.
