With people busy celebrating the New Year last night, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has slowed down a little, but business is expected to pick up again today. Bringing in $15.1 million internationally, the movie has made $679.2 million overseas, but will pass the $700 million mark today. It continues to perform well domestically too, and the J.J. Abrams helmed release has a haul of over $1.3 billion worldwide. With its debut in China now just around the corner, expect that number to significantly rise! As of right now, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will pass Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 later today to become the seventh biggest release of all-time. It's the #5 movie of 2015 internationally and #4 in North America. The movie will pass Jurassic World and Titantic later today to become the #2 movie, and it's still expected to effortlessly top Avatar in the US. How many times have you seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Let us know below.

@YogaHoser

Which did you like better, 2D or 3D? I generally prefer 3D if it's good but some people surprisingly preferred this in 2D.

I saw it Tuesday at 10:30 in the morning with a lady friend. The showing was nearly sold out. This thing is unstoppable.

As somebody who isn't really much of a Star Wars fan, I really really enjoyed this movie! Hope to see it make the climb to biggest movie ever!

@DevarikaWoulf it was nice seeing it 2D opening night but IMAX looked brighter and bigger. I probably will see it 2D the next time because I'm not a huge fan of 3D.

Seen it once so far, I might see it again at some point over the next week.

Can't wait to watch Creed, Hateful Eight and The Revenant, neither of which has opened in my country yet.

Didn't FrozenJoy say AOU would make 2 billion?

Predicting box office is like predicting a perfect March Madness bracket. Who thought GOTG would out gross a good Cap film, good X-Men film (regardless of feelings about Fox, the GA and critics liked the film), Godzilla, and Spider-Man?

Which is why I feel Suicide Squad could be the highest grossing CBM. Suicide Squad trailer has more views than Cap Civil War, the Avengers AOU trailers, Ant-Man, all 3 BvS trailers, the 2 Deadpool trailers, and the X-Men Apocalypse trailer. Plus Suicide Squad was one of the most popular Halloween costumes. It will be the Dark Horse of 2016.

I hope Star Wars beats Avatar. That's all.
