Carrie Fisher's Daughter Billie Lourd Confirmed For STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS
A good while back, we reported on a rumour that Billie Lourd had joined the cast of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars flick in an unnamed role. Now, we have confirmation from a very unlikely source: Her grandmother! More past the jump.
During the Summer, a rumour doing the rounds claimed the daughter of Carrie Fisher and Co-Chairman of Creative Arts Agency Bryan Lourd would have a role in Star Wars: Episode VII (now titled "The Force Awakens"), but we never had any confirmation of this. Well now we do...from none other than Carrie Fisher's Mother Debbie Reynolds! After more than 50 years of performing on the Las Vegas Strip, Reynolds welcomed members of her family on stage during her farewell show at the South Point Casino. Here's the report from Vegasseven.com.
"They were joined by Debbie’s son/Carrie’s brother Todd Fisher and Carrie’s daughter, Billie Lourd. Debbie mentioned that Carrie and Billie had been working on Star Wars: Episode VII–The Force Awakens with “Harrison Ford… and the other boychik.” It was probably the most tepid applause ever evoked by mention of a Star Wars movie—say that to a room of fanboys with Princess Leia right there and the howling might cause permanent hearing loss."
Of course we still don't know who Lourd will be playing, but the prevailing theory is that she'll actually appear as young Leia in flashbacks, and not the character's daughter. Either way, with no acting credits to the 21-year old's name, a large part would seem unlikely. What do you guys think? Cameo or a more substantial role? Star Wars: The Force Awakens also stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie. They join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.
