Star Wars Celebration is fast approaching, and fans of this Galaxy Far, Far Away are already counting down the minutes to what promises to be a weekend of huge announcements and reveals.

A little while ago, we heard about a Lucasfilm project titled Tales of the Jedi, and while no one seems certain about exactly what that is, answers could be coming soon. According to Making Star Wars, a panel showcasing this mystery project has been set for Friday, May 27, though there's still no word on whether it's going to be live-action or animated (we'd bet on the latter based on recent rumours).

The site mentions that Jedi: Fallen Order lead Cal Kestis is likely one of the characters involved, with the prevailing belief being that this project is closely tied to the hit video game franchise. However, that's not set in stone, and it sounds like another possibility is that it will be loosely based on the Dark Horse comic book series, Legends Old Republic: Tales of the Jedi.

Either way, common sense says this is going to be an anthology of some sort telling more stories about those who have called themselves Jedi Knights over the millennia.

It's worth pointing out that actor Cameron Monaghan is identical to Cal Kestis in terms of appearance because his likeness was used in the game. Recently, he appeared "in character" in Disneyland when Kestis' lightsaber was made available to purchase, so it's obvious his popularity would be enough to create excitement around an animated spinoff series or live-action debut for the hero.

They sell his lightsaber in the parks now. That isn't a coincidence.

@SonOfAGif - I've been hoping this would happen, and something similar with Witwer's character, but Sam may be too old now. Not imo though, the character was just too op for the films unless they decide to take it in that direction. Might be a good way of distancing from the OT universe with something along the lines of SWTOR/KOTOR, but they seem to be invested in The High Republic.

@The1st - I just find it bizarre that the parks which only sell merchandise on the live actions characters would now carry a legacy lightsaber for a video game character. Especially when there have been other Star Wars video games and cartoons with Jedi. I have a feeling they are setting him up for a live action debut.

@SonOfAGif - Yeah, I don't think they sell anything unless there's something in the works. I think elements reserved for the games would be good for live action now that the Skywalker saga is over. Even in Legends they allude to the fact that given the time period the abilities and power of force users would vary. It wouldn't work for Galen though because that is during the OT.
