It Turns Out Harrison Ford "Didn't Give A Rat's A**" About Passing The STAR WARS Torch

Harrison Ford's role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens was designed to have him pass the torch to the new, younger cast but he's revealed in a new interview that that's not something that mattered to him.

The new Star Wars trilogy is very much designed to have the original cast members pass the torch to a younger group of actors who can help open the door to a fresh wave of characters and stories. So far, Lucasfilm has done a good job of making that the case, even if it's meant fan-favourite heroes like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker have been killed off in the process (with General Leia no doubt joining them).

However, it turns out that Harrison Ford doesn't really care all that much about handing the Star Wars Saga over to his heir apparent John Boyega or any other cast member for that matter. Asked in a recent interview how it felt "passing the Star Wars baton" with his departure, Ford said: "I don’t know that I thought of it that way at all. I was there to die. And I didn’t really give a rat’s ass who got my sword."

Ford has never been one to mince words when it comes to the Star Wars franchise and he's made it clear on a number of occasions that he only returned for Star Wars: The Force Awakens to finally kill Han Solo off. With that in mind, fans hopefully won't take too much offence to these comments as the actor's remarks clearly aren't a dig at Boyega and company; he just doesn't care that much about Han!
