Joe Johnston was recently promoting his upcoming movie Captain America: The First Avenger, when he was asked about his mentor George Lucas and in a surprise answer he said that he has pitched Lucas on a movie about his famed bounty hunter Boba Fett.

Reports Screen Rant:

Towards the end of our conversation I asked Johnston if his former boss and mentor, George Lucas, had seen the film. The director gave us this somewhat surprising and thoroughly intriguing response: “You know if he wants to see it, I would show it to him. I’m trying to get George to make a feature based on Boba Fett." When asked if he would direct the film Johnston said simply, “I would like to, it would be a lot of fun.”

Johnston began his career as a story board artist for Lucas. He served as a visual effects art director on both The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi creating the look of some of Star Wars most notable characters and star ships including Yoda, the Ewoks, The Millennium Falcon, The X- and Y-Wing Fighters, The Imperial Snow Walkers, and The Imperial Star Destroyer. Another one of Johnstons designs? Boba Fett.

What do you think about a possible Boba Fett movie? As usual sound off in the comment boxes below.

Lucas would never let anyone direct a Star Wars movie other than himself. Greedy bastard.

lol @ComicsCommando - Lucas didn't direct episodes 5 or 6, so precedent says he just might let someone else direct a Star Wars movie. I'd love to see a Boba Fett movie so long as Georgy boy doesn't direct.

this would be so cool. you could get the dude that played Jango (obviously, since Boba is his clone) and throw in a few smaller character cameos and BOOM! you got another Star Wars movie.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Boba Fett, but there should be NO MORE STAR WARS MOVIES.

And certainly not about Boba Fett, as awesome as he is.

Natman and HeyVanity

My mistake, I never knew he didn't direct all of the older movies. But would he actually allow someone to create Star Wars movies outside of his Skywalker stories? If he did, that would be fantastic. However, I'm seriously doubting it. Oh yeah, and he's still a greedy bastard.

Sure it would be a fun, but im not sure I could sit through an entire movie with Temuera Morrison playing Boba Fett, in my opinion the biggest mistake Lucas ever made was changing Fetts voice in Empire, absolutly sacrilegious, unforgivable and a complete insult to Jeremy Bulloch, so the fact that Morrsion would most likely be playing Fett if this movie was made I have to say no, bad idea.

id dig it if they did it appropriately, and not all"Lucus wants EVEN Deeper pockets".

It would be epic, well if Lucas doesn't direct that is..
Too bad Irvin Kershner is dead.
I say Duncan Jones to write and direct, not Johnston, and George Lucas to produce...

Can someone please explain the Boba Fett love? I understand that he was given more story on in the expanded universe, but how great can he really be if he's only minor in the stories everyone really cares about?

Lucas has already said that Fett died and that there is no story outside of the Skywalker story so I doubt that he will do anything other than the Clone Wars story and the alleged live action TV series that is "in development"

Hey Thanos, a delete button is there for a reason.

Not real sure if they could do a film just about Boba altho it would be cool and all.

Yeah, GL should stay the hell away from the script as well as the directors chair..looks like that is pretty much the consensus here

GL would just CGI us to death anyway

Horrible way for a person to go,,,,death by CGI

Boba Fett didn't die in the Sarlacc pit.
He used his jet pack to kill the Sarlacc and escape..

True story..

Yeah,he crated the Star Wars world, and will forever be honored, as I'm sure he's quite aware of,but he's become like an irresponsible parent, who gave birth to the child, but is no longer fit to properly care for it.
