A new promotional image for The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special shows off one of the cross-timeline encounters Rey will find herself in. Sharing all new tidbits about the upcoming Disney+ special, EW released an image of the young Jedi facing off against none other than Darth Vader.

Although the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special technically takes place after the events in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Rey will find herself meeting characters from all of the different Star Wars timelines after journeying to a mysterious Jedi Temple.

EW revealed that fans can expect to see Obi-Wan Kenobi from three different timelines as well as two versions of Han Solo - "one old and cranky, one young and just slightly less cranky" - presumably from the original and sequel trilogies. The site also mentions Rey meeting "pivotal characters" from across the saga, including a young Luke Skywalker and a young Kylo Ren. She'll also be fighting Darth Vader at some point, as shown in the below image.

"The Holiday Special has something you will never see in Star Wars otherwise which is all the characters from across all timelines crashing together," executive producer James Waugh told EW. "Normally story groups are so concerned about maintaining this amazing galaxy so that it feels cohesive, it was liberating to do this in a way that's charming and fun."

Seeing these characters from the different Star Wars sagas interact will undoubtedly result in some pretty fun and entertaining moments. Specifically, seeing Rey clash with one of the most iconic villains of all-time will be a treat for fans who without the Holiday Special would never otherwise get the chance to experience such a moment. It was explained by Waugh that the concept for crossing the timelines was inspired by how the producers' kids played with Star Wars LEGO toys.

"We started realizing that the way they play with them isn't with canonical separation, it's not, 'Let's put all the classic trilogy sets here, the prequel sets here, new sequel sets here,'" Waugh explained. "My son literally just dumps his bucket out. We realized that was a play pattern that could actually inform the fun of this show."

The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will premiere on Disney+ on Tuesday, November 17, which fans of the franchise will recognize as Life Day. The special will feature the return of numerous fan-favorite characters as well as the actors who portrayed them, including Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO). Clone Wars veterans Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), Tom Kane (Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn), James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Dee Bradley Baker (clone troopers) will also be featured.

If Kathleen has her way, Rey would defeat him with one move.

Star Wars should stop tying together what's come before with the new.

Mandalorian is the only interesting new Star Wars content at the moment because it's disconnected itself from the main storyline. I mean.. for now..
