Newcomers Crystal Clarke & Pip Anderson Join STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

Disney and Lucasfilm have chosen these two from 67,000 actors who applied for the roles online and at casting calls. No info on who they'll play (of course) but an official announcement also gives us an update on Harrison Ford's progress.

After an extensive search for some new blood for Star Wars: Episode VII, Pip Anderson and Crystal Clarke are the two actors who've won roles in the currently shooting J.J. Abrams flick, beating almost 67,000 others for the highly sought after parts. The official announcement below (via The Wrap) provides some info on the pair, and also includes quotes from Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and an update on the injured Harrison Ford's recovery -- it seems they will be taking a short break from filming after all.

'Star Wars: Episode VII' Casts Two Newcomers

"At the end of last year Lucasfilm and Disney invited all young aspiring actors to attend an open casting call for roles in J.J Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII. The casting calls spanned 11 cities across the US and UK and over 37,000 hopefuls attended, with a further 30,000 submitting applications online. Having hunted high and low for young and undiscovered talent, the filmmakers are delighted to announce that two actors from the open call call have been cast. Crystal Clarke is an American actress studying in Glasgow, UK, who has both stage and screen acting experience and is soon to be seen in her first feature, The Moon and the Sun (to be released in 2015). British actor Pip Anderson is a skilled practitioner of parkour, a discipline that involves propelling oneself through any given environment with incredible grace and agility. Pip recently demonstrated this remarkable skill in a Spider-Man ad for Sony. “The Star Wars universe has always been about discovering and nurturing young talent and in casting Episode VII we wanted to remain absolutely faithful to this tradition. We are delighted that so many travelled to see us at the open casting calls and that we have been able to make Crystal and Pip a part of the film,” said producer and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Meanwhile, principal photography continues at Pinewood Studios in London after wrapping on location in Abu Dhabi in May. In August, the team will take a brief two-week hiatus while adjustments to the current production schedule are made as actor Harrison Ford recovers from a leg injury. Harrison is doing well and is looking forward to returning to the set soon. Shooting remains on track to wrap in the fall with the film scheduled for release on December 18, 2015."

Next year, we will have new Star Wars movie...It's still hard to believe.

Glad to see unknowns getting a chance in the new Star Wars film. I kind of wonder, just how big their roles will be though.

I love that they are casting unknowns. It means they are going for talent instead of fame.

Man SW Ep. 7 is like my most anticipated movie. It almost feels like it should be out in 2017 or something b/c it's anticipated. I have to wait years for AoU and BvS but Ep. 7 is next year. It doesn't feel real.

Yeah I know very few of these actors that have been cast. Only ones I knew off-bat wer eLupita (obviously), John Boyega, Andy Serkis and the OG cast like Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.

Last name is actually Andersen** and he's not so new, he's known for his youtube channel as PIPTRIX -- pretty legit parkour artist and would be awesome to see him do his own stunts in the movie!

Unknown actors with talent is always the best idea for world building in a film franchise.
No preconceived notions about famous actors can inter your mind while viewing.

Yea,Harrison Ford is a very famous actor..he was virtually unknown until Han Solo.

Pip Andersen looks like a much younger Jensen Ackles. I guess his character will be doing a lot of fight scenes. Crystal Clarke sounds like a highly trained actress.

I'm really glad they're taking a break from filming, so Harrison Ford has a chance to recover and continue shooting. They won't have to reduce his role now.

@CherryBomb Heh, guys are always posting up pics of girls, so why not change it up:
