Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes place five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, with Cal Kestis trying to stay one step ahead of the Empire's constant pursuit as he continues to feel the weight of being one of the last remaining Jedi in the Galaxy.

Unfortunately, the game wasn't given the spotlight during its own panel at Star Wars Celebration this weekend, but Cameron Monaghan ended up making a surprise appearance at the event on Sunday to share the final gameplay trailer.

In that, we see a whole host of familiar and new enemies along with jaw-dropping action sequences that make it clear this sequel is taking full advantage of next-gen consoles. Honestly, everything about it looks bigger and better than Fallen Order, and April 28 really can't get here soon enough.

The dark times are closing in as Cal seeks out a safe haven far from the reach of the Empire in Jedi: Survivor, leaving the Jedi and his crew in an increasingly desperate fight as the Galaxy descends further into darkness.

Familiar friends and new allies - Cere Junda (Debra Wilson), Greez Dritus (Daniel Roebuck), Merrin (Tina Ivlev), and mercenary Bode Akuna (Noshir Dalal) - look set to stand by Cal’s side against his foes, and this new sneak peek highlights all of those characters and more.

Developed by the veteran team at Respawn Entertainment, Jedi: Survivor will expand upon iconic Star Wars stories, worlds, and characters, and thrilling combat first experienced in Jedi: Fallen Order.

Jedi: Survivor is being built for the current generation of gaming hardware to create a deeper and more expansive Star Wars experience for players worldwide starting April 28.

Check out the final gameplay trailer (via SFFGazette.com) for the game below.

Remember when video games were seen as a dumpster fire for storytelling?

Now we've got constant video game adaptations and a video game is like the last bastion of quality writing for the star wars franchise.

What a time.

@Origame - I'm still waiting for a good Resident Evil movie.

I actually liked Welcome to Raccoon City though and I thought it was ghe best live action attempt we've gotten yet. Aside from some questionable acting, Leon's portrayal, and poor special effects it was pretty good to me.

I'm slightly tempted to get myself a PS5 for this game. I'll see how the reviews do.

Otherwise I'll wait til Insomniacs Wolverine. That's a must buy.

In the first game we got a cameo from Saw Gerrera before the events of Rogue One. Maybe we will get another surprise cameo. I'm hoping for Ashoka.

Loved the first one. This one looks like it'll be even better.

Hopefully it's in better shape than the original. Glitches etc ruined that game for me. Sunk about 20hrs into until I fell off a ledge onto a lower platform that I wasn't supposed to access yet and then it autosaved. Everytime I reloaded I was stuck on that platform with no way back out or forward. Just gave up on it from then on

Story must be hectic; Poor guy fell chin first in mud and hasn't had a chance to wash that dirt off his face yet.

I haven't touched my PS4 in years. Last games I played were Spiderman and God of War. My wife is a big Harry Potter fan so we are getting Hogwart's Legacy when it comes out for PS4 and playing it together (me play while she watches). Need to pick up the first one of this series too.

PS5 almost has enough games I'm interested to pick one up. Spiderman 2 might be what ropes me in, since I loved the first one so much. This looks good too.

I'm really hoping that Wolverine game on the horizon turns out to be good. It's been a long time since we've had a good Wolverine game, which funnily enough was the game that came out with the terrible Origins movie.

I really enjoyed the first game, though it definitely had some flaws. It seems like Respawn had listened to the fans and addressed some of those with the sequel, and doubled down on the stuff that worked. Definitely look forward to playing this one.
