STAR WARS JEDI: SURVIVOR Video Game Could Feature An Appearance From Darth Maul

Maul is a character whose story has expanded greatly since his apparent demise in The Phantom Menace, and a new rumour points to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor featuring an appearance from the iconic villain.

The highly anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel was revealed at Star Wars Celebration last weekend, and after that cryptic, intriguing teaser, there's a lot of excitement to see where Cal Kestis' story goes next.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor certainly looks like a fun experience, anyway, and a new rumour shared by Shepshal Nick, host of the podcast, Xbox Era (via SFFGazette.com), suggests Cal will come face to face with a Star Wars icon. Apparently, there are plans for Darth Maul to make an appearance in the sequel, and while the source isn't the most reliable, this does line up with other rumblings we've heard.

At this point in the timeline, Maul is either continuing to increase his power in the Galaxy's criminal underworld or on the hunt for Obi-Wan Kenobi (a story we saw play out in Star Wars Rebels). He'd make a fitting foe for Cal, though Lucasfilm will need to be careful not to contradict his other appearances.

What we can say is that the mysterious villain seen in the sequel's trailer isn't Maul. There's been a lot of speculation about that, with various Expanded Universe and Knights of the Old Republic characters mentioned as potential candidates (most fans appear to be hoping for Starkiller's return).

Hopefully, some more official details will be revealed soon.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set to be released in 2023, with the latest rumours pointing to a February or March release.

One of my most anticipated games of next year. Hopefully they add some sort of flight battles or ground transportation based combat. That's probably the one thing missing for me

Why not Prince Xizor and Black Sun? I like Maul, but there are other very interesting characters in the Galaxy.

@Repian - The story of Shadows of the Empire was great. Disney should have just chosen to explore the extended universe and selectively told specific stories, the good stories.

Always down for more Maul.

That thumbnail looks as though Wayland Flowers' "Madam" went to the dark side...!

I'm all for Maul popping up, but Star Wars needs to stop being slave to cameos and using established characters. It's a really big galaxy. Create new characters that you can do whatever you want with so they don't have to fit into some timeline between their last and next appearance. One of my favorite things about Kotor is that it's mostly unhindered by anything else. Last game they used the Inquisitors, which was awesome but the best parts were (no spoilers) towards the end of the game.

@UGLYsonic - I still can't figure out for the life of me why they won't faithfully adapt KOTOR.

Darth Maul shouldn't have survived from Episode 1. It's dumb.

@SirDuckAlot - it is a bit redundant. Both of Palpatines padwans have robotic disfigurements by the hands of Obi-Wan and seek to hunt him down at the same time of him being in exile and protecting Luke. It would have been cool to see something different with Maul, like maybe he decided to forgive Obi-Wan and turned away from the Darkside, maybe became a friend before heading off to do something else. Idk.

I don't mind him surviving, I just wish they tried something original.

Only if you get to canonically kill him once and for all so that he can never appear again ever.

@PapaSpank54 - he dies by Obi wans hands. But that's later in the timeline. There's a lot to Mauls story we haven't seen.

Disney/Lucasfilm continues to live in the past with its shows, movies and video games.
I feel they are incapable of creating complex villains and enemies.

Can see Cal run into him if he returns to Dathomir, but not really as a main villain or main point of interest. Same with running into Kenobi if Cal goes to Tatooine
