STAR WARS: Original Boba Fett And THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Star Jeremy Bulloch Passes Away Aged 75

We have some sad news to share with you today, as it's been revealed that Jeremy Bulloch, the actor who originally brought the iconic Boba Fett to life on the big screen, has passed away at the age of 75.

Jeremy Bulloch has passed away at the age of 75.

The actor, who was born in Leicestershire, England, in 1945, started his career in TV commercials before starring in shows like Doctor Who and Robin of Sherwood as well as movies like Mary, Queen of Scots and The Spy Who Loved Me. However, he's no doubt best known for his work as Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi

Bulloch returned to a Galaxy Far, Far Away for 2005's Revenge of the Sith where he made a cameo appearance as Captain Colton. While the latest cuts of those early Star Wars movies now feature Temuera Morrison's voice, it's obviously still Bullock beneath the iconic helmet (and he never actually voiced the character; that was Jason Wingreen).

Bulloch still became synonymous with the role in the years that followed, and when he gave up the convention circuit in 2014, the actor shared a touching message with his fans.

"In 1979 I was called onto the set of Empire Strikes Back to play Boba Fett, and since that day it has changed the entire direction of my life in such a wonderful way," Bulloch said. "It has been a privilege to have had the opportunity to inspire so many generations of Star Wars fans. I have had over 20 years of travelling with my wife Maureen to some amazing countries and have met so many wonderful fans. Thank you all so much and we will miss you all."

Our thoughts go out to Jeremy's friends and family at this time. RIP.

It is with huge sadness I can report that we have lost Jeremy Bulloch. Jeremy was the 2nd guest I ever met and one I...

Hope he got to see Boba return and the love of his character rekindle. Rest easy, Jeremy.

David Prowse and Jeremy Bulloch within a couple of months? Hayden and Temeura, carry those torches in their memory!

@gulducati - Didn't even think of it like that, carrying the torch on. Very cool.

Also amazing that he was cast becaue he was local, and Empire was shot mostly in England...yet they also flew him to the US for Return of the Jedi! They could've easily put someone else in the costume for the desert in Jedi, but they honored the fact that Jeremy was Fett. I love that!

In honor of Jeremy Bulloch, here's the best Boba Fett meme.

@InfinitePunches - here here, though FYI that isn't Bulloch. That scene was filmed in the 90s for the special editions, cant recall the actor's name.

Despite criticisms of Boba Fett as a character, you cannot deny: Fett in 'Empire' was the very definition of 'iconic'.

@GothamSon - RIP Jeremy Bulloch.

@GothamSon -
The criticisms are pretty lame anyway.

"He barely had any screen time in the movies!"

You mean like 500 other fan favourites?

"But his death scene is lame!"

By that logic, Bane in TDKR and many other villains also suck.

"But... but he didn't do anything to warrant being called a badass!!!!"

Rewatch The Empire Strikes Back and pay closer attention. Not to mention, there's a tonne of material outside the movies in both canon and Legends that show off his abilities in more detail. The Mandalorian didn't do anything new or special, other than showing it again in live action.

@Darkknight2149 - Exactly. Well said, great comment:

' "But... but he didn't do anything to warrant being called a badass!!!!"

Rewatch The Empire Strikes Back and pay closer attention.'

This. Fett oozed a confident workmanlike approach to bounty hunting. Solo was the score of his career, even with few lines of dialogue talking to Vader. His relationship with Jabba loomed and as a kid, it made me terrified for Han's fate.

Damn, one day before the finale. A true tragedy. He’ll never know how the season ends.

Too bad, maybe he could have played Jango’s father or i guess the mandalorian who found him

@dracula - I was very surprised when they canonized Jaster Mereel. That comic is awesome. Maybe they could do a project with Daniel Logan as young Jango and dedicate it to Jeremy Bulloch.

@InfinitePunches - would like to see daniel logan again. Never got to finish his arc in clone wars and technically he has played the role the most
