STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE Concept Art Said To Be HALO Influenced

During the shareholders meeting announcing a whole bunch of stuff, one thing that wasn't shown online was concept art from Gareth Edwards's Star Wars: Rouge One starring Felicity Jones (Theory Of Everywhere). Here is some descriptions of the concept art.

On Thursday we all received big Star Wars news. Rian Johnson's will direct Star Wars Episode VIII and be released on May 26, 2017 which was the same day the original Star Wars released nearly 40 years ago. We also received big news on that the first Star Wars spin-off film will be written by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Chris Weitz and directed by Godzilla director Gareth Edwards and will star star Felicity Jones and the film shall be called Star Wars: Rogue One. There's been a lot of rumors for this film with it mostly seeming like it will be a Bounty Hunter centric film but with the Rouge One title, fans now believe it will be based of the Rebel Squadron. There was one other big thing announced but not revealed online at the shareholders meeting: concept art from Rouge One.

Here is what /Film said found out

  • The concept art was a gritty “dark/gray image”: “very dark and done in greens, so it evoked the idea that it was being done under the cloak of night.”
  • The art showed 4-5 armored, soldier-like persons on the ground, “with two to three ships in the background.”
  • Disney blogger/investor StichKingdom says that the imagery “evoked concept art of a video game” and it “screamed Halo to me.”
  • Unfortunately neither of the sources we talked to knew enough about the Star Wars expanded universe to describe exactly who the characters may have been or what ships were pictured in the background.
  • There were tough-looking vehicles too.
  • The ships were fairly dark, and in the background.
  • They weren't obviously X-Wing Fighters, which our sources would have recognized.
  • They “seemed a bit bigger than X-Wings”.
  • “More like a transport ship of sorts” but probably not as big as the Tantive IV (the transport ship we see Darth Vader board at the beginning of A New Hope).
  • The characters were all “generic” looking “wearing the same dark outfit.” “I didn’t see anything that would distinguish them as individuals.”
  • When I asked LA Times reporter Daniel Miller if they looked more like Rebel Alliance fighters in orange jumpsuits or a band of bounty hunters, he replied: “Neither. They were masked but not whimsical looking like those bounty hunters (I realize whimsy & mercenaries don’t go together).”

So it seems like it could be more of a Bounty Hunter then a Rebels films like some, including me, thought. Personally the "screamed Halo to me" has me excited the msot as I'm currently playing Halo for the first time on the Master Chief Collection. But enough about me, what do you think of the description? Comment below, let me know. Peace and remember...
