STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Reactions Point To A Satisfying But Convoluted And Divisive Conclusion

Last night, Disney held the world premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in Los Angeles, California. While the review embargo lifts tomorrow in a bid to avoid spoilers, we do have spoiler-free reactions from the event which shed some light on what we should expect from the "Skywalker Saga" finale.

Overall, the reaction is extremely positive. There's clearly going to be a lot for fans to love, and it sounds like the movie serves as a satisfying and worthy conclusion to this story.

J.J. Abrams' creative decisions are praised, while it sounds like things definitely get emotional. However, among the negatives are a few mentions of things getting a little busy and convoluted. Some critics really seem taken aback by a few plot points, and a lot of them agree that it serves as more of a sequel to The Force Awakens than the incredibly divisive The Last Jedi.

Either way, it's clearly going to be a movie that generates a lot of discussion among fans.

These Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker reactions make for very interesting reading, and we think you'll find a lot to talk about after checking them out. To do so, hit the "View List" button below!

Actually sounds pretty good. Glad the pre-screenings were all BS. Heard another theory about Rey's "parentage" recently from a fairly reliable source. Have to say.....if true …..it's quite clever and it worked!

@emeraldtaurus - there are spoiler reviews around right now and even photos taken on a phone during the premier proving the leaks are true. A quick google or YouTube search will show you I'm not lying I just saw it now

@emeraldtaurus - I've read all the spoilers from last night. Rey's parentage is about as far from clever as possible.

@emeraldtaurus - sad, isn't it? Imagine what kind of money those guys got paid to write such nonsense.

To enjoy movies like these is to see them unbiased!
Don’t step into the theater scrolling through opinions that change your expectation.

And then after you see it. Then seek out the sweet or bitter discussions.

*Sigh* doesn't matter, the reviews are gonna do a complete 180 as per usual with most movies this year. It's actually tiring to go through.

It doesn't matter if these are just "reactions" - these are coming from the actual reviewers, not the fans. Yet they still completely mislead people which is annoying af. It doesn't even get them more clicks either, so I'm still trying to understand the logic between the absurd contrast.

@Kurne - I remember seeing those Gemini Man reactions and getting excited, and then it got, like, a 20% fresh.

@tmp3 - yeah me too I was actually excited for Ang Lee and Smith for that brief moment until the RT score came out.

I don't know if the reviewers just walk out of the cinema on a high or whatever, but they should be better than that.

@tmp3 - Gemini Man was ridiculous ! so bad......that it was actually ...kinda cool. But I can see why the critics pummelled it so badly.

@emeraldtaurus - yeah but the first reactions gave me hope! They all said it was amazing, then the reviews just absolutely destroyed it

These things never mean much, we’ve seen early euphoric praise turn to mixed/bad reviews like Lion King and Aladdin and we’ve seen it turn into great reviews like spider-verse had. This reminds me of what IT 2’s social media reactions were like, so I don’t think it’ll get universal praise.

I REALLY hope this is atleast decent but the fact that the actual premiere reviews are mixed doesnt fill me with confidence

A lot of these are the same people who raved about TLJ.

@Battabing - Ok? Rian Johnson is a much stronger writer than Chris Terrio and a much stronger director than Abrams, it was very unlikely that this was going to be better than TLJ - and I say this as someone who was pretty lukewarm on it.
