They're revealed in all their glory in the movie of course, but below you can see the first official images of two of the mysterious new characters we're introduced to in Star Wars: The Force Awakens: the evil and ancient Supreme Leader Snoke, and benevolent space-pirate Maz Kanata.

Though the two share no scenes in the film, it's believed that they will wind up being the new representatives of the light and dark sides of the force in the Star Wars universe (despite Maz clarifying that she's not actually a Jedi), much like Yoda and Emperor Palpatine before them.

@Scorpion8125 look I don't find it all that annoying. I'm not bothered by it, but I actaully see where you're coming from. Have Finn with a woman of color would be refreshing. Black men can like black women haha. Its possible. Im black, i know. Personally, I think Gugu Mbatha Raw may be his love interest in Episode 8.

I quite enjoyed Maz, in both portrayal and design.

"Snoke" is a really stupid name for the villain though. Not impressive or intimidating at all. Sounds like it should be some nebbish tight-ass who insists on regulations.

Cool.

Snoke's gotta be Plagueis, which (if they delve into his backstory) will be awesome.

And I'm interested in seeing where they take Maz in the future.

It's implied she's Force sensitive, and apparently in a deleted scene she was seen to use the Force in battle.

I'd be interested in seeing a non-Jedi or non-Sith Force-wielder.

Could open up a lot of possibilities!

black and my girlfriend is white. I get it. I like the way their relationship is and how it can grow. It's not about color, it's about a connection they have. But, as a black man, and someone apart of the culture, I understand the whole tension of black men not being displayed with balck women this day in age. I can understand the whole subject. The chemistry between Boyega and Ridley is perfect though. Something to capitalize on. It's genuine.


I love Finn's character. Love seeing a brotha beung a badass in a galaxy far far away

Reading the comments and all I see is a race war over what is acceptable for one race to date another. Who cares. Let's talk about why maz looks so much better in that picture then she did in the movie. Her cgi was wonky at best in the movie but looks fantastic in that pic

Snoke's design isn't even that unique for them to resort to CGI. Makeup could have easily worked with him.
