What would you have done differently with Star Wars 1-3?

I really liked Phantom, Hated Clones, and Loved Revenge. But i wanted to know what you would do if you went back in time and the responsibility of creating the Star Wars Prequels was placed on your lap.

Phantom menace really disappointed its fans. I liked it. Mainly for Darth Maul. The whole story line to Phantom didn't bother me too much, but the fact that Jar Jar Binks was the worst character ever to hit the series. Darth Maul, to me, should've been the Darth Vader of the trilogy and then be chopped in half by vader in Revenge.

Attack of the Clones' battle in the end is spectacular, and there is no denying that the Jedi arena scene is exciting. But the whole 'love story' SUCKED. And once again Jar Jar was not needed. But episode 2 had to happen...

Revenge of the Sith was awesome. Hayden Christianson actually tried to be an actor instead of a boring robot. Most importantly, NO JAR JAR BINKS! It opened and closed well and I'm still pissed to this day when I sat in the theater opening night and before it started, a guy stood up and said, 'Sidieous kills Windu!' and sat back down.

But hey, I wanna hear what you would have done differently to the Star Wars Trilogy

I would have done this slighty different: DONT MAKE THEM! The prequel is terrible. The old ones are immortal classics, out of time. Lucas should've spent several years making them. Not just writing a sketch and proclaiming he has had this idea since episode 4. It's ridicoulus. Cancel the whole thing. I'd rather have some knights of the old republic. Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker was a regular sith/jedi before this dumb prequel. It made him into something dumb.

zthey should make a Force Unleashed movie. They already have the actor for the apprentice Sam Witwer.

1. No Jar Jar

2. Darth Maul should have been the Darth Vader of these movies. They should not have killed him in Phantom Menace. He should have killed Qui Gonn Jinn and gotten away, then he could have been a recurring villain for episodes 2 and 3 instead of Count Dooku. In episode 3, Palpatine could have had Anakin battle Darth Maul for the right to be his apprentice (much like he made Anakin fight Dooku). After defeating Maul in a balls out fight, Anakin takes his rightful place as Vader. Just this alone would have made the movies so much better.

3. No Hayden "i can't act my way out of a nutsack" Christianson.

i've thought about this a lot, if you can't tell :)

I'm among the vast minority who actually really enjoyed the prequels (in fact, I liked ROTS and TPM more than TESB and ANH). What I would've done differently is (1) remove Jar-Jar all together, (2) give deeper scripts for all the films, (3) give Darth Maul a much bigger role in all the films, like what Corndog said.

I actually think the love story in Episode II was necessary, and I enjoyed it. Episode II happens to be my favorite of the films although I still like the Orginal Trilogy better than the New Trilogy.
My list goes...
1) AOTC
2) TESB
3) ROTJ
4) ROTS
5) ANH
6) TPM
Jar Jar Binks could of been kicked down a notch in Episode I (good thing he was only really had much screen time in one movie). Jar Jar Binks was my vote. I also have mixed feelings on Anakin's age.

@PaulRom: Believe it or not there actually isn't a "vast minority" who really enjoyed the prequels. More people than you think really enjoyed those films.

Empire Strikes Back is by far the best Star Wars movie of all time. mainly because of the line "Luke I am your father".

I totally agree about Darth Maul, but more than anything I hated the Anakin-Padme stuff. Portman was fine but Hayden was really bad and they had no chemistry at all. And the writing for them was painful, I laughed at like everything those two said to each other.

i always imagined Anakin and Obi-wan trying to fight off an invasion of sith clones and other epic stuff.
there shouldn't have been any of that stupid forbidden love crap.
oh and Anakin should've been as manly as darth vader.

1. Darth Maul would have been a female instead of male. She would have killed Qui-Gon and gotten away and been a recurring villian until the third movie, then gets killed in an epic battle by Anakin. Always hated the fact that in ALL the Star Wars movies, we NEVER saw a female Sith.

2. Anakin at first refuses to join the dark side so Palpatine uses Force Lightning on him to force him to join. Then that would establish Darth Vader HATING the Emperor. NEVER made sense to me how easy Anakin fell to the dark side without Force Lightning, it was very disappointing. Force Lightning should have been involved.

3. I would have made the prequals first then the other three.

4. And no long haired Anakin! Man, I hated that.

First, i would have found a way to either not include Jar Jar Binks or find a way to have someone kill him. Heck, Anakin should've done it. I admit that Anakin was a little punk in Episode 2, but every story has its ups and downs. He lost his mother right in front of his eyes. If that were me, I know I would have gone over the edge too. Probably wouldn't cry about every little thing like freakin emo Peter Parker though. LOL

What I would have done differently... I think I would have just made Revenge of the Sith and called it a day lol. Honestly, seriously, I think if ANYTHING, Lucas should have made a sequel, not a prequel. I would LOVE to see Luke Skywalker on the darkside, and to explore him coming back, and learning how to control the dark side AND the force. THAT would have been interesting, and the story could have spanned three movies!

I honestly like the prequels better then the old ones. I don't care what people say i love 3 that's my favorite star wars movie but i do agree that Hayden Christiansen did act like a robot, but anakin is still my favorite star wars character
