It was a big night for fans of Guillermo del Toro's powerful monster movie, The Shape of Water.

The film won four statues - including best picture - at the 90th Academy Awards tonight, with Del Toro taking home best director. The fantasy romance also won for original score and production design.

Sally Hawkins, Richard Jenkins and Octavia Spencer were all up for acting awards, but Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell wound up winning for their Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor turns in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Blade Runner 2049 wasn't nominated in any of the major categories, but Roger Deakins was finally recognized for his years of stellar work with a Best Cinematography Oscar for the sci-fi sequel.
