THE TOMORROW WAR Star Edwin Hodge Talks Planned Sequel And Finding Success On Streaming (Exclusive)

The Tomorrow War is getting a sequel, so while we had Injustice star Edwin Hodge on the phone a little earlier today, we had to ask about his character's rumoured return and the first movie's success.

The Tomorrow War arrived on Amazon Prime earlier this year. Many wondered if the sci-fi blockbuster had been offloaded to a streaming service because, quite frankly, it wasn't very good; well, not only was the response to the movie a positive one, but it scored massive streaming numbers to boot.

With that in mind, no one was surprised when news broke that a sequel was in the works. However, a number of characters who [Spoiler Alert!] died in the first movie were among those said to be returning. Edwin Hodge's Dorian was one of them, but time-travel obviously lends itself to all sorts of craziness (including resurrections and new versions of people from different timelines).

Earlier today, we spoke to Hodge about his roles as Mister Terrific and the villainous Killer Croc in Injustice and asked if he's excited to return to The Tomorrow War franchise. "It’s still early days on my end. You know, if everything does come to fruition, I definitely would be excited to go back."

"I think The Tomorrow War stood out on its own as an alien sci-fi film and I thought audiences, as far as the comments and so forth were concerned, did love it and appreciate it," Hodge continued. "It would be amazing to come back for a second film and reprise my character of Dorian."

The Tomorrow War came out at a time when theaters looked to be on their last legs and proved that there's a huge streaming audience for blockbusters that premiere at home. When he mentioned the massive audience the movie was able to draw, Hodge shared his take on that. "It did and it does feel great. We hope, when we’re filming these projects, that we’re able to reach the masses and when it does, that it’s received well."

"From the start of this project, it was an adventure and it was fun. The cast and crew were amazing. They made the process of filming highly enjoyable and made it so that I would love to come back for a second film [Laughs]," he noted. "The success of films today is a lot different to what it was two years ago, three years ago, or even five years ago. To be able to still hit a marquee market during the summer and have this popular film, it definitely feels like an accomplishment."

COVID changed Hollywood forever, and The Tomorrow War's success was part of that game-changing couple of years for the movie industry. We're definitely looking forward to the sequel (read our review of the first instalment here), and you can pick up Injustice on Digital, DVD, and Blu-ray on October 19.

Tomorrow war was big dumb fun. It was ludicrous and stupid and took itself way too seriously for such a ridiculous concept, but I stayed entertained. 3/5 stars.

@dragon316 - but since the movie involved time-travel, wouldn't the sequel also be a prequel and a prequel be a sequel?

@Nightmare - I don't know uf this is a compliment for Army of the Dead or a stab at this, because Army of the Dead was really bad
