Review Opinion

There are spoilers in this review. Allright, to start off I will say this: District 9 is the best film I have seen so far this year. It was better than Star Trek, better than Watchmen, better than anything else released this year. Directed by Neill Blomkamp (in his directorial debut for a movie in theatres), and staring Sharlto Copley. I'm guessing that all the aliens were CGI.
The story of the movie is EPIC. Its a whole 112 minutes, not much to me. From the moment the film started I was in aw of this work of art. Sharlto Copley plays Wilkus van der Merwe. He's a worker at MNU (or Multi-National United). In 1982 a mysterious ship hovers over Johannesburg, South Africa. Nothing happens, until we investigate the ship. Inside are refugee aliens. They are let out and put into a slums in JHB (Johannesburg) and basically forced to live there, like prisoners. 28 years later, the aliens are acting like us. They are poor, so they scavenge for foods. They make babies, they make bets and live/eat/sleep like we do. The government decides to move them to a concentration camp called District 10. Oh, yeah District 9 refers to the slums where the aliens live. Wilkus is assigned to go to the aliens and tell them they are going to be evicted. While there he sprays himself with a fluid made by an alien, his name is Christopher Johnson. He then begins to mutate. So the main part of the film is Wilkus running away from the goverment (who want to experiment on him and see why he's mutating), and figuring out a way to get cured. His left-arm even becomes an alien arm. He teams up with Christopher and thats all else I will say. The plot is intense, gory, full of action, f-words, and yet is spectacular. The story is one of the main points of seeing this movie (well, any movie it is), and thats because its so good.
There aren't many actors in this film. It mainly deals with Wilkus and Christopher. Though a tough solider/mercenary who proves to be a problem. Copley plays a good role as a jacka$$/good guy in this movie. The aliens are also played very well (despite being CGI, I think), and you come to see that they are helpless and just want to go home. The alien of Christopher is a very interesting character as well, he's smart, tough, and knows what to do. He knows how to get home, but he needs Wilkus' help (and vice-versa) to do that. So, the acting was also very good.
The special effects were fantastic for a movie of only 30 million. The robot suit is cool, and the aliens look real and livelike. They have many arms, tentacles and whatnot. Great effects for the movie. The exploding bodies are cool too.
Finally, the score. You guys can probably guess how many stars this recieves. The movie was great, and is the best film I've seen this year. Don't worry, the whole movie isn't a documentary (like Cloverfield), thats only about the first half-hour, then it switches to a regular movie. Well, thats all to say. Oh yeah, 4 out of 4 stars.

4 out of 4 stars

Yeah, maybe. I haven't been on in a while. I have been reading and reading and reading. I'm reading The Stand by Stephen King. Its an addictive book. Only 300 (out of 1153 pages) more pages to go.
