Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.

Why are the first two tv spots showing it as an action movie?
It looks promising. Has a 77 on rotten tomatoes though.

I showed my cousin the trailer, and she didn't like very much the science fiction part, but other than that she liked it...
Some people have seen this movie, and from what I get, we won't get the masterpiece that we deserve from this trio... yet!

why is anyone shocked that most marketing is completely off?

anyone who bases seeing a movie cuz a trailer looked cool should not be shocked if its not what the trailer promised.

why do we have trailers, posters/ads, reviews, previews, viral sh*t and blah, blah, blah... cuz in the information age we need sensory overload to wade thru all the information and decide if we want to spend our hard earned cash

the age of trailers not being spoliers or word of mouth died long before i was born. and i am old.

oh, and i'll see this

I don't think promoting this as some kind of action movie (like the first 2 trailers) is the best way to go. Why would you try to market this film to the action crowd. Market it to the drama/romance crowd.

It always leads to wrongly skewed expectations, unpleasant surprises, disappointment, negative word of mouth, box office bomb, and eventually studios refusing to fund unique films like this.

The market for this kind of film is out there. Take Titanic for example. Somewhat similar in the crowd it appeals to, and that's the second highest grossing film ever.
