"V": Marc Singer Guest Stars in Season Two

ABC's "V" continues to get back to its 1980s roots, first with the casting of Jane Badler -- Diana in the original -- as Anna's mother, and now with word from TV Guide.com that Marc Singer, resistance leader Mike Donovan, appearing on the show as well.

Offers writer William Keck, "A show source tells me exclusively that Marc, who played freedom fighter Mike Donovan in the '80s version, will be playing a new character named Lars Tremont. Lars is a member of a super top secret organization comprised of high-ranking military and government leaders from around the globe, who have long suspected that the Visitors — despite what they tell us — are very much not here in peace."

Note: If you're a fan of "V", definitely tune into the show when it returns on January 4th. With a shift in management at ABC, it seems that the show's biggest supporter, the departed Stephen McPherson, is gone and one can't be sure how supportive the new regime is going to be. The show's second season started off with a 13-episode order and that has been cut down to 10. Also, the low-rated No Ordinary Family serves as the lead in and there's some fierce competition on Tuesday nights.

I always liked Marc Singer and watched the original V and The Beastmaster all the time as a kid. Very cool that he's cast in season 2!

I've only seen the first three episodes. It didn't really rope me in like other series have. Marc Singer was brillant in the orginal. Although this could turn out to be crap but if we are lucky it could be like Richard Hatch turning up in the remake of Battlestar.

Superdog, I have to agree with you. Unless it comes out of the gate performing like gangbusters ratings-wise, I don't think it's got a chance beyond these 10 episodes.

@EdGross and superdog I really like the show. I hope it lasts longer, but why start it in January and cant we get 22-24 episodes I blame reality tv they try and cram to many shows in nowadays. What ever happened to showing a show all year round including new episodes and reruns to generate a bigger fan base. CBS does it for NCIS and CSI and it works great for them.

I really do think that "V" is the red-headed stepchild to the network in some ways. In season one they premiered the show in November, ran four episodes and then took it off until March. Now in season two, instead of giving us a fall debut, they pushed it to January (eight months since the last episode aired) and cut the order from 13 down to 10. That's just not very promising. Creatively I think the series is going to be great this year, but just not feeling the love from the network.

Nice article @Ed.Marc Singer is awesome,I watched the original V series when I was a kid.One of the very few shows that I remember exactly what I was doing when it first came on.And The Beastmaster movies were awesome too, just wish they had those on DVD,I hope they rerelease them someday.I just don't think any science fiction show can survive on any of the regular networks anymore, because the big wigs don't support the genre.I just think they don't get it,old people I guess.I mean sci-fi shows can't even survive on the crappy SyFy network either, just look at how Caprica was treated.I'm really getting sick & tired of sci-fi gettin the crappy end of the deal all the time.Someone needs to step up and finance a new channel that will actually give the sci-fi genre a chance, and someone that actually supports the genre, not just a money backer.

@ JorEl77

I hope that HBO do a proper Sci-fi show. They have done three fantasy shows, Carnaval, Game of Thrones and True Blood. All excellant except for Game of Thrones, which I can't comment on yet as it doesn't come out until next year. Sci-fi for me is a genre that hasn't really been exploited on the small screen as much as the big screen. Battlestar, Quantum Leap and of course the orginal mini series, V were excellant. However I still think there is room for someone to come in and do something that will set a new standard.

ed@ theres no question they treated this show like crap and screwed it over in the process. theres no way you can roll out a show that way and expect it to perform well. and i really dont know why they are treating it this way. i mean why take a chance on a show like that if your gonna treat it like crap? frigen hollywood. ;(

I agree with Superdog and Ed. It sure is weird how they have went about this.

Waiting until January and even then only ten shows?? What's the deal?

Is it ratings? Where they low-ish?

And ABC just announced that on March 29th, Body of Proof will start airing in the "V" timeslot, which says that they're not even willing to consider changing their mind no matter what the ratings of the show are.

Here's hoping marc and jane bring what's missing to this show. Should have been a continuation from the start. Boo.
