We've been hearing reports relating to Vincent D'Onofrio potentially reprising his Daredevil role as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for quite a while now, but the rumors of his return seem to have picked up steam recently, with several (semi) reliable outlets claiming that the actor will show up as the larger-than-life villain in Disney+'s upcoming Hawkeye series.
The recent trailer offered no hints of a Kingpin appearance, although Echo (Alaqua Cox) is the character's adoptive daughter in the comic books, so his involvement would certainly make sense.
Now, D'Onofrio has responded to these rumor via Twitter... although he didn't exactly give us much more to go on.
The actor has been sharing cryptic poems over the last couple of days, and some fans believe he may have been making reference to Fisk and/or his Hawkeye role. However, D'Onofrio followed-up by asking his followers not to read too much into his writing, before adding that he "appreciates the fandom" and "loved playing him in Daredevil."
If Kingpin is set to show up in Hawkeye, the news is highly unlikely to be made official before the show airs, so we're just going to have to wait and see how things play out. If D'Onofrio does end up returning, though, we can probably expect to see other actors from the now cancelled Netflix shows follow suit.
