Amazing Spider-Man issue 014

Amazing Spider-Man issue 014

A terrifying family called the Inheritors is traveling around the multiverse feasting on the life-essence of Spider-people. A group Of Spiders who have bound together to fight the Inheritors sought out Peter Parker, the only spider who ever defeated an Inheritor.
The Amazing Spider-Man discovered that a second team of Spiders had been assembled by the Superior Spider-Man (Doc Ock in The Amazing Spider-Man's brain), but even their combined forces were not enough to fend off a surprise attack from the Inheritor family! The Spiders were scattered on missions across the multiverse; meanwhile, Superior Spider-Man declared himself leader of those that remain.

SPIDER-MAN

ISSUE 014

This is the second to last issue in the amazing story arc that has been Spider-Verse, it starts off with Spider-Gwen and Spider-Woman fighting of what can only be described as a horde of Green Goblins, each under the control of the Inheritor known as Verna. It's kind of ironic seeing as this version of Gwen has no idea what the significance of Goblins is to Spider-Man. Just as it seems things may be getting a little out of hand for Gwen Peter and the other Spider-Totems show up to help. Long story short Gwen proves to Peter that she can look after herself and all is well in the Spider-World...well apart from the impending doom of their kind...
First Page & Second Page

The Prophecy to destroy the spider-totems is about to begin, but not before revealing that though Solus is dead, his essence exists within a small crystal, pretty much like the ones Superman uses in all of the old Christopher Reeve films. Anyway, we are shown a rather grim image of Kaines beastly Spider-body being cut as the ritual begins. As much as I have been loving Spider-Verse, I must admit that this ritual does feel ever so slightly rushed..I kind of wanted more from this arc, not just a short story in which they bring out many Spider-Men to look at and then kill off....
Third Page & Fourth Page

As the Spider-Totems gather, this includes even the "Web Warriors", they discover that Kaine is dead, as well as the Inheritors flee back to their home world to protect the ritual. I have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying the variety of Spider-Men, though I am bothered ever so slightly how Miles seems to be calling the Disney Ultimate Spider-Man the Spider-Man of his own Ultimate Universe...I may not have said this but I hate the Disney Ultimate show with a passion.
Fifth Page & Sixth Page

In Loomworld Silk's blood is added to the ritual, and further mystery is added to her existence, it's strange..anyway, the Weaver starts to talk in riddles just as Daemos is about to stab baby Benjy, but as always Spider-Man arrives "Just in time"and stops him. SpOck takes on Daemos and Peter takes on Morlun, well that is at least until May takes over for revenge purposes, and it seems that the newly found Uncle Ben is still a coward? He disappears with a Fwash through a small portal.
Seventh Page, Eighth Page & Ninth Page

Just as things start to go wrong for the totems Karn and the rest of the cavalry arrive, much to the surprise of Karns siblings. They seem to think that he would fight alongside them after centuries of sadness and pain, but no more. Karn and the rest of the totems unite and take down the Inheritors.
Tenth Page & Eleventh Page

Morlun refuses to accept his defeat, that is at least until he is literally kicked in the face by a small naked Peter Porker, and he discovers that when Ben Parker had disappeared through the portal he took Benjy with him. Morlun was "Hamboozled" gosh that's such a cringey line...and okay I was wrong, now Peter calls in the cavalry. The Giant Spider-Mech known as Leopardon to the Japanese Spider-Man which had been patched up by Lady Spider and Miguel O'Hara.
Twelfth Page, Thirteenth Page & Fourteenth Page

Spider-Girl threatens Daemos with killing his fathers essence in the crystal, and whilst Peter is pre-occupied with Morlun SpOck decides to kill the Master Weaver. What an idiotic move....Luckily this action prompts Spider-Girl to reconsider revenge. I am happy that May has not become a killer, that would not be what her Father would have wanted.
Fifteenth Page & Sixteenth Page

Morlun lunges for Peter and starts to drain his essence, but Peter had one final trick up his sleeve, he teleports himself and Morlun to Earth-3145, the radiation world, where Inheritors can not survive. But he gives Morlun a chance to follow the webbing to the Underground bunker, luckily before the radiation starts to harm Peter too much he is literally saved by a "lifeline" from silk. The page finishes off with the whole Morlun family, except Karn being thrown into the radiation world.
Sixteenth Page, Seventeenth Page  & Eighteenth Page

The issues finishes off with I nice warm ending, well almost, issue #15 will be the Epilogue, but for now Silk can only think of one thing, but alas Peter is far too drained to do anything like that, at least until he gets his strength back,

My Overall View

Over all I think that this issue was a little bit on the slow side, but I do still think it was an amazing due to the fact that we are now getting some pretty decent closure on Spider-verse. Though I do look forward to seeing SpOck's fate in issue 15. Overall I give the issue a nice 7/10. It had very nice artwork, but the story brought it down ever so slightly, some things just seemed a tad too convenient for my liking.
