Nicolas Cage very nearly played Superman in a Tim Burton-helmed live-action movie and while he's since appeared in Ghost Rider and Kick-Ass, an argument could be made that he's yet to land a truly great superhero role (Big Daddy comes pretty close). Well, that could be about to change thanks to Sony's upcoming animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as he may have a role there.
According to a new report, Cage may have been cast as Spider-Man Noir in the highly anticipated Marvel Comics adaptation, a role which would definitely suit the actor. The character is one of the most popular alternate versions of Spidey, so it makes perfect sense for him to appear here, especially as we know that Into the Spider-Verse is going to feature a lot of different versions of the wall-crawler.
The latest trailer promised that more reveals are coming our way at Comic-Con so those will be well worth keeping an eye out for. Actors who are confirmed to appear as various versions of the iconic superhero include Shamiek Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Spider-Gwen, and Jake Johnson as Peter Parker.
