While Sony Pictures continues to struggle when it comes to live-action storytelling (look no further than Morbius for proof of that), the studio has found great success in the animated realm.
2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse ended up winning an Oscar and earned widespread critical acclaim. While the franchise's focus is primarily on Miles Morales, a whole heap of Spider-heroes have made their presence felt, with perhaps the most popular being Hailee Steinfeld's Spider-Gwen (a.k.a. Spider-Woman).
The character is expected to be put front and centre in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but what might the future hold for this version of Gwen Stacy beyond that?
In the video below, Steinfeld is asked about possibly bringing Spider-Gwen into a live-action setting alongside the live-action Spider-Men played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Admitting that she's met those two, but not Tom Holland, the actress seems to feel she's said the wrong thing by fessing up to crossing paths with the actors.
The Hawkeye star does seem keen to play a live-action Gwen, though, and that happening would make all the sense in the world.
There's already talk about an animated Spider-Woman spin-off, but assuming a live-action version does become a reality, then we see no reason for Steinfeld to not play her. If a Spider-Gwen movie does happen, though, fingers crossed that this animated franchise's creative team is heavily involved with the project.
Alternatively, there's always a chance Gwen will be part of Spider-Man 4, though we doubt it would be Steinfeld playing here there considering the fact she's already the MCU's Kate Bishop.
